The Black Lightning TV series is over, but that doesn't mean that Cress Williams and Jefferson "Black Lightning" Pierce is quite done with the CW-verse yet, as Williams reveals that he has been approached about making an appearance in the upcoming eighth season of The Flash.

The Flash is opening its next season with a special five-episode "event" in November of 2021 that will feature the Scarlet Speedster teaming up with various other characters from the CW-verse. It won't be a true crossover, but it will be treated as a big deal. One of those characters might be Black Lightning

Williams revealed to EW.com, "[We're] just in the talks phase. I really enjoyed the crossover last year. Specifically, I think me and Grant [Gustin], we're just very like-minded in how we approach the work, and we had really great conversations. One of my favorite scenes of doing this character was the scene between me and him in the library [on the Waverider in "Crisis on Infinite Earths."] So the thought of being able to go back and do an episode here or an episode there? Oh yeah, no, I'm down for that."

The crossover Williams is referring to is his appearance in the 2019 CW event, Crisis on Infinite Earths, the last time that the CW shows had a crossover with each other, due to the COVID pandemic making cross-show appearances extremely difficult to pull off from a logistical and safety perspective.

This is a big change from when Black Lightning was originally announced, as CW Chairman and CEO Mark Pedowitz noted back then, "We do not aim to do a five-way crossover. Black Lightning, at this time, is not part of the Arrowverse. It is a separate situation. But there will be a big fourth-quarter crossover with all four of the shows that are on in the fall.”

Obviously, those plans changed with Crisis on Infinite Earths and it looks like Williams might very well be on his way back through the Multiverse at least one more time. Luckily, as far as logistics go, Williams recently moved to Los Angeles after being on the East Coast for the past few years while Black Lightning filmed in Georgia. The other CW shows, including The Flash, film in Vancouver, so it should eb a lot easier for Williams to travel to appear on the show.
