WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for "Grodd Friended Me," the latest episode of The Flash, which aired Tuesday on The CW.

In the latest episode of The Flash, an old enemy returned in the form of Gorilla Grodd. Through the years, the Scarlet Speedster has clashed with his nemesis on multiple occasions, from the first time he faced him in the sewers of Central City to an outright invasion from Gorilla City. But after their last altercation, it seemed Grodd had finally been defeated for good. He was incarcerated by A.R.G.U.S. and kept unconscious in a telepathic coma. But the villain once again returns in "Grodd Friended Me." Only this time, things are different -- Grodd insists he has changed.

Barry is reluctant to listen but, eventually, he ends up joining forces with his former enemy. And the best part is this leads to the creation of the Arrowverse's coolest amalgam superhero.

In "Grodd Friended Me," Grodd is able to use his telepathic powers to reach out to Barry Allen and trap him in his mindscape. But Grodd has no ill intent -- instead, he wants to make Flash understand that he is no longer the villain he once was. All that he wants to do is go home to Gorilla City, which is now located on Earth-Prime following the events of "Crisis on Infinite Earths." While Barry is hesitant at first, he eventually comes to believe Grodd. All the telepathic gorilla needs is to escape his coma before it's too late.

But the only way out is through the gatekeeper, who has taken on the form of rival gorilla Solovar. The keeper proves too strong for either Barry or Grodd to face on their own. Therefore, their only hope is to join forces -- literally.

The two join hands and instantly, Barry's Speed Force begins to crackle around them both. Soon, the energy changes them, and Barry disappears, fusing himself into Grodd. As a result, Grodd now becomes the Flash: a red lighting symbol appear on his chest, and the Speed Force is now his to use. Plus, Barry's voice is in his head, much like Firestorm and Dr. Stein. The result is a new amalgam superhero. Flash and Gorilla Grodd fuse to create something new.

Next, Grodd runs at super-speed, straight into battle against Solovar. There is something truly awesome about seeing Gorilla Grodd with the Flash's powers. Even more fun is having Barry teach Grodd how to use his abilities, and deliver a twist on one of the series' signature line when he says, "Run, Grodd, run!" With these abilities, Grodd appears even more powerful, and the clash between him and Solovar easily ranks among The Flash's best action sequences.

Before the end of the episode, the two characters are separated once again, and Grodd is allowed to go free. With him out there and now an ally of Team Flash, here's hoping the character returns soon to deliver an additional dose of the new Grodd/Flash amalgam for another epic moment.

Airing Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/CT on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanagh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet and Hartley Sawyer.
