DC Studios co-head James Gunn has made a big proclamation about the upcoming movie The Flash.

While speaking with Variety, Gunn and co-head Peter Safran discussed the Fastest Man Alive's first solo cinematic outing, which has been seen in a negative light due to the various controversies surrounding lead actor Ezra Miller, as well as the fact that the on-screen DC universe is headed for a soft reboot. However, Gunn gave a more positive description for the project. "I will say here that Flash is probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made," he said.

Gunn and Safran later touched upon how The Flash -- which Gunn cryptically said would "[reset] everything" in the franchise -- would be set up by Fury of the Gods. From there, they added that the Scarlet Speedster's film would lead into Blue Beetle, which itself would lead into Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom and ultimately have the latter set up the new Superman movie which will see Henry Cavill be succeeded as the Last Son of Krypton by a new actor.

The Flash Is Slated to Finally Hit Theaters This Year

Prior to this, The Flash was said to have received good test screenings, gaining scores that rivaled the Dark Knight trilogy and testing better than its DCU predecessors in spite of Miller's controversies. It was also reported that Warner Bros. has hopes for The Flash on par with the Dark Knight movies, while a script for a sequel has already been written despite the movie not having been released yet.

As for Miller, the actor apologized for said controversies last year "Having recently gone through a time of intense crisis, I now understand that I am suffering complex mental health issues and have begun ongoing treatment," they said. "I want to apologize to everyone that I have alarmed and upset with my past behavior. I am committed to doing the necessary work to get back to a healthy, safe and productive stage in my life." A later report would state that Miller sought help after learning that the movie was being considered for cancellation, while a recent report claimed that Warner Bros. Discovery is still open to keeping them on as the Flash.

The Flash arrives in theaters on June 23.
