Actor Grant Gustin, star of The CW's Arrowverse series, The Flash, has been preparing for Season 7 and recently showed off his progress on social media.

In an Instagram post, Gustin revealed the muscle he has been able to build over the last seven months. More importantly, he explained the impact it has had on his mental health, writing, "About 7 months ago I finally decided to break my cycle of not taking care of myself as well as I should. As many of you may know, I've had anxiety and sometimes depression for as long as I can remember. Over the last 7-10 years or so as I've been more of a 'public figure' and had a busier schedule, my anxiety only got worse."

He went on to state that the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and the relative isolation that it demanded, prompted him to make a change. "That's included eating better(and more), working out, daily meditation, and just trying to be more present and happy with who I am." He concluded by telling fans, not only to expect a beefier Flash in Season 7, but that the changes he has made have led to him feeling "much happier and more present than I have in a long time."

Season 6 of The Flash saw Barry struggling with the disappearance of his powers, requiring the aid of artificial speed force, created by Team Flash, to fight Eva Mulloch and attempt to free Iris from the Mirrorverse. The Season 7 trailer teased the continuation of that fight.

The synopsis for The Flash Season 7 reads:

After a thrilling cliffhanger last season which saw the new Mirror Master (Efrat Dor) victorious and still-at-large in Central City, The Flash must regroup in order to stop her and find a way to make contact with his missing wife, Iris West-Allen (Candice Patton). With help from the rest of Team Flash, which includes superheroes Caitlin Snow (Danielle Panabaker), Cisco Ramon (Carlos Valdes) and Nash Wells (Tom Cavanagh), as well as the Flash’s adoptive father Joe West (Jesse L. Martin), Meta-Attorney Cecile Horton (Danielle Nicolet), tough cub reporter Allegra Garcia (Kayla Compton) and brilliant tech-nerd Chester P. Runk (Brandon McKnight)... Flash will ultimately defeat Mirror Master. But in doing so, he’ll also unleash an even more powerful and devastating threat on Central City: one that threatens to tear his team—and his marriage—apart.

The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. Season 7 debuts Tuesday, March 2 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
