Earlier this week, there was a leak from the set of Season 5 of The Flash that gave fans an unofficial first look at the Scarlet Speedster’s new costume on the series. The picture from the set showed off a much different suit than the one Grant Gustin has worn on the show for the past four years.

The leak prompted the series’ star to write a letter to combat criticisms of body-shaming. On top of that, Gustin also wrote that the costume wasn’t camera-ready yet, and that it was still going through some adjustements.

Well, here we are no more than a few days later, and The CW has just released the first official promo poster for Season 5 of The Flash, featuring our first real look at the Scarlet Speedster’s new costume.

The new suit is a departure from previous iterations of the costume, in that it ditches the leather look in favor of lighter fabric. The neck portion is also more exposed, the colors are more vibrant, and a new cowl gives this Flash costume a more comics-accurate look.

The new costume is actually a gift courtesy of Barry Allen and Iris West’s time-traveling future daughter, Nora. The first trailer for Season 5 revealed that Nora brought The Flash ring with her from the future, which houses the new suit.

The Flash returns Tuesday, October 9th on The CW, and stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Hartley Sawyer, Danielle Nicolet, Tom Cavanagh and Jesse L. Martin.
