Tony Curran, who played Vincent van Gogh in BBC's Doctor Who, will take on the role of DC villain Despero in the eighth season of The Flash.

Deadline reports Curran is already on the set of The CW series as filming takes place on Season 8. Despero is a telepathic alien from the planet Kalanor. His description states "he's facing a deadly mission on Earth, one whose outcome will decide the fate of humankind and put him on a collision course with Team Flash."

The Flash announced a five-part event series titled "Armageddon" will kick off the new season in November. Coincidentally, the event's logline calls out a powerful alien arriving on Earth, who is more than likely Despero.

Curran appeared in two episodes of Doctor Who ("Vincent and the Doctor" and "The Pandorica Opens") as Vincent van Gogh. His other credits include Ray DonovanYour HonorBlade 2The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen and Underworld: Evolution.

"Armageddon" will feature a host of other Arrowverse stars joining Team Flash. The event will see Brandon Routh return as Atom after exiting Legends of Tomorrow, along with the additions of Javicia Leslie (Batwoman), Cress Williams (Black Lightning), Chyler Leigh (Sentinel), Kat McNamara (Mia Queen), Osric Chau (Ryan Choi), Tom Cavanagh (Reverse-Flash) and Neal McDonough (Damien Darhk).

The Flash Season 8's "Armageddon" event airs Nov. 16 at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
