As The Flash's Carlos Valdes nears his scheduled exit from the show, the actor revealed he has been planning Cisco's exit from The CW series since Season 4.

"It's been a long time, actually. Doing this kind of show with the sort of commitment that comes with it, it happened very fast, and I think that at the time I was in a place where I was still figuring out my life. And right around Season 4, I started debating what the end for this character might look like," he told TVLine. "So, that seed was always there, but it didn't really start becoming a reality until much later on — like, the end of Season 5, Season 6, where I started to become more comfortable with the idea of, 'Oh, I think there's a good way to put an end to this chapter.'"

It was announced in May that Valdes would be leaving during Season 7 of the show alongside fellow series regular Tom Cavanagh, who is scheduled for one more appearance before his exit. Valdes' first portrayal of Cisco Ramon in the Arrowverse was not on The Flash, but rather on Arrow Season 2, Episode 19, "The Man Under the Hood." He appeared alongside Danielle Panabaker's Caitlin Snow, who he would go on to share a series regular role with on The Flash following its premiere.

As Valdes referenced, Cisco's character has undergone a few story moments that could have led to his exit from the show. In Season 5 in particular, the finale saw Cisco commit to a life-altering decision by giving up his powers. His character often provided the tech-based support for Team Flash, a role that will be filled by Chester Runk (Brandon McKnight), who joined during Season 6.

Valdes' exit from the show is scheduled to occur on June 8 in Season 7, Episode 12, "Good-Bye Vibrations." However, the actor teased that the character's final moments would not be dramatic." I'm actually really grateful that Eric and the writers chose this route for my departure from the show," he said. "It's a very silly, very goofy, low-stakes departure."

The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Panabaker, Carlos Valdes and Tom Cavanagh. New episodes air Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
