As the leader of the infamous group of villains, The Rogues, Captain Cold has solidified his role as one of The Flash’s greatest enemies. Even as a child, Leonard Snart was always incredibly gifted. Though he is not the smartest person in the universe, he definitely knows his way around various technologies.

Over the years, Captain Cold has made many different moves against The Flash, even aiding the Scarlet Speedster from time to time. Looking back at some of the more drastic things Captain Cold has done over the years, here is our list of the 10 worst things Captain Cold has ever done.

10 Formed the Rogues

Of course, one of Captain Cold’s most notable achievements is forming The Rogues. With all sorts of advanced technology under their belt, The Rogues have been a regular problem for The Flash since their introduction. Though they are typically very easy to defeat, The Rogues (especially Snart) have been known to be incredibly challenging foes.

Likewise, the variety of their abilities and technology makes it hard to take all of them down in the same manner. Though The Rogues typically stick to thievery rather than murder, they aren’t as regular a threat to Flash as they certainly could be. However, the fact that they exist at all is still one of the worst things Snart has ever done.

9 Kills Owen Mercer

Owen Mercer is the son of Captain Boomerang. After his father died during the events of Identity Crisis, Owen actually took up the mantle of Captain Boomerang for himself. During the Blackest Night event however, the original Boomerang was reanimated as a zombie. Owen, believing that human flesh would eventually restore his father, began feeding people to him.

When Captain Cold found out, he confronted the young man. Eventually, things escalated to the point where Snart actually killed Owen. While it is not uncommon for Snart to do something like this, The Rogues typically refrain from killing people. Since Owen was so young as well, it is very surprising that Snart did something like this.

8 Tried to Marry Iris West

Before the events of Crisis On Infinite Earths, Leonard Snart actually tried to marry Iris West. After trapping the city in suspended animation, Snart said he would only return it if Iris married him.

Like always, The Flash showed up in time to stop the wedding and save the city. Though the story is a bit more ridiculous, it still showcases just what Captain Cold is capable of. Holding an entire city in a state of suspended animation is no easy feat, and the fact that he was able to do so from prison truly showcases just how powerful he can actually be.

7 Joined the Justice League

During the events of Forever Evil, an evil version of the Justice League came in and took out some of the Earth’s most powerful heroes. During this time, Captain Cold and the Rogues led a small resistance against the evil versions of the League, even going so far as to act as heroes themselves. Not only did they save people in Central City, but they eventually teamed up with Lex Luthor to help save the Justice League.

As a result of his actions, the public strongly suggested that Snart and Luthor hold places on the Justice League. In order to help their reputation, the rest of the restored League reluctantly agreed. While Snart wasn’t exactly evil during his time as a hero, he proved to be incredibly difficult to work with.

6 Nearly Destroyed Central City

For as much as Captain Cold claims to love Central City, he has a tendency to nearly destroy it. Going beyond the terms of collateral damage from his robberies, Snart and The Rogues have nearly wiped out the city on many occasions. As mentioned previously, he has held the entire city hostage by holding it in suspended animation.

During a time when The Rogues actually had metahuman abilities though, they soon learned that they had a hard time controlling them. The resulting chaos nearly decimated half of Central City. Thankfully, Flash was once again there to stop them in time.

5 Turned the Rogues into Meta Humans

Normally, The Rogues rely on highly advanced technology and other gadgets in order to accomplish their goals. For a brief period, however, the team actually had metahuman abilities of their own. Though it would eventually backfire on them, Snart convinced the other members of the team to take part in an experiment that was designed to take the abilities of their weapons and turn them into superpowers.

Unfortunately, The Rogues could hardly control their abilities and were constantly looking for ways to undo the process. Likewise, Golden Glider and Mirror Master got the worst out of the deal, as the two could no longer have any form of physical relationship as a result of the experiment.

4 Is Willing to Kill His Sister

Though this may not be one of the worst things Captain Cold has ever done, it is certainly one of the hardest things he has ever had to do. After his sister was killed, she remained dead until she was briefly brought back to life by the Black Lantern Corp in Blackest Night. At this point, she actually made a move against Snart, even using his emotional ties to his former sister to defeat him.

However, Snart is able to bury his emotions long enough to actually freeze the zombified version of his sister. For as much as she meant to him, it is easy to see how this was one of the hardest things Captain Cold has ever had to do.

3 Sold His Soul to the Devil

During the events of Underworld Unleashed, the villain, Neron, actually managed to convince Snart and other members of The Rogues to sell their souls to him. However, instead of giving the team the wealth that he had promised, Neron sent them all to Hell to be tortured. From there, Neron used the bodies of the soulless Rogues to help him do his evil bidding.

Though trickster was eventually able to save them, Snart is definitely lucky to have survived. Despite the situation that his greed had gotten him into, Snart would live to continue his plight against The Flash.

2 Turned the World Against the Justice League

If he weren’t so greedy, Captain Cold would actually make for a pretty good hero. During the events of Justice, Captain Cold, along with a few other smaller-scale villains, manage to turn public opinion away from the Justice League by staging their own heroic actions. In what turned into one of the largest attacks against the Justice League ever, Captain Cold certainly played his part.

The miniseries actually explores what would happen if almost every major DC villain banded together to take down the League. While Snart doesn’t have a major role in the story, he is still a key element to the villains’ master plan, making his role in the takedown of the entire Justice League one of the worst things he has ever done.

1 Tried to Kill Other Flashes

While Leonard Snart may be associated as Barry Allen’s villain, he has been a major foe of virtually anyone to call themselves The Flash. During Wally West’s time as the Scarlet Speedster, Snart regularly operated as both friend and foe. Likewise, when Bart Allen finally assumed the mantle, Snart actually tried to kill him as well.

Despite his passionate hatred for Barry Allen specifically, Captain Cold is no stranger to being an enemy of The Flash in general. Overall, his hatred for anyone calling themselves The Flash only proves what kind of person Captain Cold really is. Since The Flash is a major role in his motivations as a character, it is easy to see how trying to kill him is one of the worst things that Captain Cold has done, as well as continues to do.
