The CW's The Flash executive producer Todd Helbing provided some insight on the show's upcoming 100th episode at Comic-Con International on Saturday, teasing a big twist for fans of the series.

"It’s going to be directed by Tom Cavanagh,” Helbing stated, in reference to the actor who has played various incarnations of Harrison Wells on the show since its beginning. The series' landmark episode, though, would fall at a point during the season normally reserved for the show's Arrowverse crossover episode, as part of a shared storyline with The CW's Arrow, Supergirl, and DC's Legends of Tomorrow.

To accommodate the anniversary, the showrunners have altered the placement of the crossover in order to make the 100th episode the mid-season finale instead, preceding the crossover which will take place when the season's second half begins. Last season's crossover was the acclaimed "Crisis on Earth-X," featuring counterparts of the shows' characters from an alternate reality where the Axis Powers were victorious during World War II.

"Episode 8 is going to be our big mid-season finale," Helbing added, "And there will be a big twist to carry us over.”

Airing Tuesday nights on The CW, The Flash stars Grant Gustin, Candice Patton, Carlos Valdes, Danielle Panabaker, Tom Cavanaugh, Jesse L. Martin, Danielle Nicolet, Hartley Sawyer and Jessica Parker Kennedy.
