Robbie Amell is returning to The Flash.

According to EW, Amell will reprise his role of Ronnie Raymond for two episodes of Season 8, beginning with Episode 11 in 2022. However, details on the circumstances surrounding his return are under wraps.

Amell played Ronnie Raymond in Season 1 of The Flash. After the particle accelerator explosion, he was believed to be dead but was later discovered to have been fused with Dr. Martin Stein, forming the Arrowverse's first incarnation of Firestorm. Ronnie would sacrifice himself in the Season 1 finale to help save Central City.

Amell -- who's also the cousin of Arrowverse founding father Stephen Amell -- has made it clear on several occasions that he'd be open to returning to The Flash. "Anytime that they want me to and I’m available, I’m there," he said in 2019. "I love everyone on that show. Danielle [Panabaker] is the sweetest. Everybody on that show is like family. It was nice to be able to be there, at the beginning, when they first started. It’s tough. There’s a lot of story to tell and a lot of characters to give their time. If it ever does work out, I’d love to go back, but I also don’t want to step on any toes. So many people there have earned their opportunities to have some great storylines. I think it would probably just be something small, but I would love it."

"I owe so much to Greg Berlanti and the Arrowverse, I had so much fun playing the character," Amell said the following year. "I'm super proud of my cousin, I think he did something amazing. I know he misses it but, at the same time, but it was probably the right time to go; you always want to go out on top. I would love to go back, whenever it works, but there's great people and supporting characters on The Flash; I never want to be the guy who comes in for a couple episodes and steals time away from other people who are deserving of it. I'm still very much in touch with the people who are in charge and Danielle [Panabaker] and I talk on a regular basis. I would love to go back but who knows when and how, it would have to make sense for everybody."

Amell isn't the only Season 1 star making his way back to The Flash for Season 8. In October, Rick Cosnett confirmed Eddie Thawne would similarly return to the hit CW superhero drama.

The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
