The Fate of the Furious Trailer Takes a Shocking Turn

After much teasing, the first trailer has come roaring in for "The Fate of the Furious," the newly retitled eighth installment of the blockbuster action series.

As we see in the footage, there's a very good reason for the slogan "Family No More," as it appears Vin Diesel's Dom has allied himself with Charlize Theron's Cipher and turned against the team. "Did you ever think you'd betray your family the way you did today?" she asks.

And if the team has any hopes of stopping Dom and Cipher, they'll need a little help -- in the form of Jason Statham's Deckard Shaw. How's that for another twist?

Now that Dom and Letty are on their honeymoon and Brian and Mia have retired from the game—and the rest of the crew has been exonerated—the globetrotting team has found a semblance of a normal life. But when a mysterious woman (Oscar® winner Charlize Theron) seduces Dom into the world of crime he can’t seem to escape and a betrayal of those closest to him, they will face trials that will test them as never before.

From the shores of Cuba and the streets of New York City to the icy plains off the arctic Barents Sea, our elite force will crisscross the globe to stop an anarchist from unleashing chaos on the world’s stage…and to bring home the man who made them a family.

Directed by F. Gary Gray ("Straight Outta Compton," "The Italian Job"), the film stars returning franchise veterans Vin Diesel, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Statham, Michelle Rodriguez, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Nathalie Emmanuel, Elsa Pataky and Kurt Russell, joined by newcomers Charlize Theron, Scott Eastwood and Helen Mirren. "The Fate of the Furious" opens April 14, 2017.
