The Expanse Heads Beyond the Ring Gate in Season 4 Trailer

Amazon Prime Video has released a new trailer for the fourth season of The Expanse, as the Rocinante crew travels beyond the Ring Gate.

When a planet is discovered on the other side of the ring, a group of refugees takes it upon themselves to claim it as their own. However, a U.N. ship is sent down to control the area, resulting in a mission that doesn't go according to plan.

Tensions continue to rise as a team is sent to the planet, now named New Terra, to investigate what is going on. To their surprise, the artifacts on the planet are waking up, and they are none too happy with its new residents.

The Expanse originally aired on Syfy, but was canceled by the network in May 2018 after three seasons. Syfy cited low ratings and high production costs as reasons for why the show was axed, despite its critical acclaim. Amazon soon picked up the series for a fourth season, with executive producer Naren Shankar noting that the show no longer had content restrictions and would film natively in 4K UHD. Amazon has already renewed the series for a fifth season.

Adapting the novel series of the same name by James S.A. Corey, The Expanse stars Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Frankie Adams. Season 4 premieres on Amazon Prime Dec. 13.
