The Huntress is coming to Starling City for a multi-episode arc of "Arrow," The CW's upcoming superhero drama.

According to EW.com, Australian actress Jessica De Gouw will play Helena, a vigilante (and a potential love interest for Oliver Queen) whose determination to destroy her father's criminal empire puts her on a collision course with Arrow.

Developed by "Green Lantern" screenwriters Marc Guggenheim and Greg Berlanti and "Fringe" co-executive producer Andrew Kreisberg, "Arrow" centers on Oliver Queen, a wealthy young bad boy who, after spending five years shipwrecked on an island, returns to Starling City with a mastery of the bow and a determination to make a difference.

While three DC Comics characters have gone by the name Huntress -- the original was a villain who debuted in 1947 -- the version on "Arrow" is based on Helena Bertinelli, who was introduced in 1989 and served as a longtime member of Birds of Prey.

Word of De Gouw's casting comes less than a week after "Torchwood" star John Barrowman signed on for a recurring role as a mysterious acquaintance of the Queen family. They join Stephen Amell ("Hung") as Oliver Queen, Colin Donnell as Tommy Merlyn, Katie Cassidy ("Supernatural," "Melrose Place") as Laurel Lance, David Ramsey ("Dexter") as John Diggle, Willa Holland ("The O.C.") as Thea Queen, Susanna Thompson ("Star Trek: Deep Space Nine") as Moira Queen and Paul Blackthorne ("24") as Detective Quentin Lance.

"Arrow" premieres Wednesday, Oct. 10 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW.
