The CW has ordered straight-to-series orders for the Arrowverse's Superman & Lois and Walker, a reboot of Walker, Texas Ranger starring Supernatural's Jared Padalecki.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, both series have bypassed the pilot stage, with the shows being picked up for the 2020-2021 broadcast season.

Superman and Lois Lane marks the returns of Tyler Hoechlin and Elizabeth Tulloch in the title roles. The series will follow "the world's most famous super hero and comics' most famous journalist deal with all the stress, pressures and complexities that come with being working parents in today's society."

Following his 15-year run on Supernatural, Padalecki will executive produce and star in Walker, a reimagining of Walker, Texas Ranger. Joining him are executive producers Anna Fricke, Dan Lin, Lindsey Libertore and Dan Spilo; Fricke will also write.

The series will reportedly "explore morality, family, and rediscovering our lost common ground. At the center of the series is Cordell Walker, a man finding his way back to his family while investigating crime in the state’s most elite unit. Our broken widower and father of two returns home to Austin after being undercover for two years for a high profile case -- only to discover that there’s even more work to be done at home. In a nod to the original series, Walker and his new partner -- one of the only women in Texas Rangers’ history -- are the modern day heroes our world needs, following their own moral code to fight for what’s right, regardless of the rules."
