The CW is currently expanding its programming lineup, with the network purchasing pilots for a number of new shows. Along with the new Riverdale spinoff Katy Keene and an adaptation of the 1987 vampire film The Lost Boys, the network is also developing a new take on the classic young adult mysteries, the still-untitled Nancy Drew.

As Deadline noted, the Nancy Drew pilot Newocmer Kennedy McMann will take on the role of Nancy, and Leah Lewis (Charmed) will co-star in the series as George, a girl from the wrong side of town who begins the show as a rival to Nancy/suspect in a murder case, slowly becoming an ally to Nancy.

Larry Teng (Supergirl) will direct the pilot, and Hsu Taylor (The Vampire Diaries) will serve as show-runner on the series. The official plotline released by The CW reveals that the show will center around Nancy Drew right after graduating from high school. After a family tragedy makes her defer her plans for college and keeps her in her hometown, she ends up involved in the investigation of a grisly murder that may have ties to deeper secrets.

There is currently no scheduled premiere date for the pilot or a potential follow-up series.
