Luck has finally run out for "Beauty and the Beast," which will say farewell with its upcoming fourth season.

Never a ratings champion, The CW's sci-fi romance/police procedural had still managed to void cancellation time and again, in part due a vocal fan base that includes network President Mark Pedowitz. Starring Kristin Kreuk and Jay Ryan, the series also performed well online and overseas, which may have earned it more leeway.

Of course "Beauty and the Beast" didn't appear as if it would make it past its 13-episode third season, which was shuffled off the regular CW schedule, into summer. But then the network surprised everyone in February by announcing the Season 4 renewal.

However, there probably won't be any more surprises in the drama's future, as it's wrapping production of its final season next month. It will debut sometime next year.
