The CW has announced that the television adaptation of Chris Roberson and Mike Allred's Vertigo series "iZombie" will debut Tuesday, March 17. The network has also released a teaser for the supernatural comedy-drama.
The show stars Rose McIver as Olivia "Liv" Moore, who was once "a rosy-cheeked, disciplined, overachieving medical resident who had her life path completely mapped out...until the night she attended a party that unexpectedly turned into a zombie feeding frenzy," according to the series synopsis. "As one of the newly undead, Liv is doing her best to blend in and look as human as possible."
"iZombie" also stars Malcolm Goodwin as Clive Babineaux, Rahul Kohli as Dr. Chakrabarti, Robert Buckley as Majoy Lilywhite and David Anders as Blaine DeBeers, with "Veronica Mars" executive producers Rob Thomas and Diane Ruggiero-Wright.
Talkng to the Television Critics Association on Sunday, the show's creator Thomas spoke of some of the noticeable differences between the comic and the show: "We didn't hue terribly close to the source material," according to a quote from The Hollywood Reporter. "In the comic, there's a whole monster universe ... and we wanted to stay strictly zombie. We really needed a story engine. We wanted a case-of-the-week show. In the comic, the character is a grave digger. By making her an assistant medical examiner and putting her in the morgue, it gave us our case of the week that we wanted."
