At Wizard World Madison Comic Con this past weekend, "The Crow" creator James O'Barr discussed the long gestating film reboot of the property, including the troubles that the reboot faces and how he wants Sam Witwer for the lead role.

O'Barr, who has actively taken part of script rewrites and serves as a creative consultant, has his heart set on Witwer to play Eric Draven, according to Blastr. He also revealed that he'd been in touch with Witwer about the role, though nothing official has come of it yet.

Though O'Barr believes Witwer has the looks and talent to play the character, he still needs to sell director Corin Hardy on the casting. When O'Barr told Witwer about the opportunity, Witwer responded that he'd "mow the creator's lawn for the rest of their lives for the chance."

In addition to his casting goals, O'Barr spoke candidly about the other issues that the film faced, citing money problems as one of the primary reasons that the project had not yet gotten off the ground. Additionally, former director F. Javier Gutierrez and Luke Evans -- who was originally attached as the star -- both departed the franchise recently.
