In the world of The Boys superpowered people are everywhere. With superpowers being so common, not all powers are created equal. While some individuals have abilities that make them almost godlike, other people with abilities are not as fortunate.

Some 'supes' in The Boys could hardly be considered superheroes. Just because someone has an ability doesn't make them capable of fighting alongside the likes of Homelander or Starlight. Sometimes an ability is good in theory, but in practice, it's misused or has a fatal flaw.

10 The Deep Is A Worse Version Of Aquaman

The Deep standing by a fountain

At first glance, The Deep's powers are a carbon copy of DC's Aquaman's. Even their costumes look similar. Deep can't hold a candle to Aquaman's strength, though. Most supes have increased strength and invulnerability, but the Deep's increased physique isn't anything special in a world of supes.

The Deep breaths underwater using a set of large gills in his chest, giving him both an insecurity and a weak spot, as he experiences extreme pain if anyone touches them. His connection to ocean life is a weakness as well. Deep is so enthralled with ocean creatures that he stole a dolphin to release it in the ocean, and his relationship with seal life has only become more problematic over time.

9 Translucent Was An Invisible Disappointment

Translucent in a cage on The Boys

Translucent's ability to turn invisible by changing his skin into a metamaterial seems great but doesn't scream top-tier power. Turning invisible would be great for a spy, but because everyone in The Boys is a trifle off, Translucent uses it to watch people in the bathroom. While the metamaterial makes Translucent's skin invulnerable, there are a couple of drawbacks.

Like many supes in The Boys, Translucent's powers only affect his body, so he needs to be nude to be completely invisible. Also, Translucent is only able to make his skin invulnerable, so if anything gets inside him, it could spell his end. The Boys were able to subdue him, keep him in a cage, and eventually kill him using an inserted explosive. Invulnerable skin couldn't save Translucent's internal organs from an explosion, meaning he was the first supe to meet his end at The Boys' hands.

8 A-Train Is A Train Wreck

A-Train with arms stretched out

A-Train is The Boys' resident speedster. Self-describeded as "the fastest man alive" A-Train has all the usual powers associated with super-speed like superhuman agility, durability, strength, and stamina, along with extremely fast healing.

Unfortunately, A-Train's super-speed is like a normal athletic ability, meaning that it deteriorates as he ages. A-Train turned to Compound-V to keep his speed up, but then became addicted to the substance, and it damaged his heart. A-Train has been warned by doctors that if he ran again it may cause his heart to burst. He either has to stop using his ability or risk death.

7 The TNT Twins Fizzled Out

TNT Twins trying to use their power

Tommy and Tessa were known as the TNT Twins, and they shot explosive energy from their palms. The TNT Twins were part of the team Payback, the greatest superhero team before The Seven. Being part of Payback meant the TNT Twins had great potential, but potential doesn't always equal greatness.

The number one weakness for the TNT Twins is that they had to hold hands to use their power. If they got separated, the TNT Twins wouldn't be able to shoot their explosive blasts. The power of the TNT twins seemed to have dissipated with age because when Soldier Boy appeared before them, the TNT Twins tried to blast him but were only able to produce sparks. The twins also appeared to lack any kind of super strength or durability.

6 Popclaw Was A Subpar Hero

Popclaw in the Boys

Popclaw may have been part of a superhero team when she was a teen, but it's not much of a surprise that she didn't make it into the big leagues. Popclaw's name sums up her power pretty easily, as she has claws that pop out of her wrists. Popclaw's bone claws don't seem to be fortified in any way, so other than always having concealed weapons she is essentially the same as a person who's carrying a couple of knives.

Popclaw also had increased strength and stamina. However, to really bring out her powers, Popclaw turned to Compound-V. While on Compound-V, Popclaw was not totally in control of her strength and she accidentally crushed a man's head between her legs.

5 Termite Can Change Size, Sometimes Involuntarily

Termite from The Boys 1000x500

Termite starts off Season 3 of The Boys entertaining a party by shrinking in size to have a little too much fun with a small doll. It's not the best use of an ability, but Termite uses his shrinking powers for sexual ends. Unfortunately, during one "adventure" Termite sneezes and unshrinks, causing his partner to explode.

Unlike someone like Ant-Man, Termite cannot grow to a larger size, he can only shrink and revert to normal. Also, Termite's power only affects his body, so using his power means he is running around in the nude. Termite retains his impressive strength while small, but other than using his abilities to evade Frenchie for a short time, Termite's powers seemed more impressive in the bedroom than the battlefield.

4 Doppelganger May Steal Your Face

Doppelganger with hoop earrings

One of Vaught's special agents is a supe named Doppelganger. They can change themself to look like anyone else and mimic voices perfectly as well. Vaught used Doppelganger to blackmail people with ease. While Doppelganger can shift to look and sound like anyone, they are unable to copy skills and superhuman abilities.

Doppelganger also experiences extreme pain if they stay shapeshifted for too long. Unlike most supes, Doppelganger lacks any increased strength or durability and is essentially an average human despite their shifting ability. They may be able to pretend to be someone else, but other than that Doppelganger doesn't bring much to the table.

3 Mesmer Read Minds With A Touch

Mesmer from The Boys, looking shocked.

Mesmer was a former teenage superhero who could read people's minds. Mesmer also had the ability to look into the memories of anyone he touched. Unlike a typical comic book telepath, Mesmer needed to be in physical contact with anyone he wanted to use his powers on.

However, Mesmer couldn't turn his powers on and off at will. Any physical contact with a person activated Mesmer's abilities, even a physical attack from Billy Butcher. Mesmer was another supe who lacked the typical enhancements to his strength and durability. Butcher was able to easily subdue and kill Mesmer by beating him to death.

2 Ezekiel's Powers Are A Stretch

Ezekiel The Boys 1000x500

When it comes to strange abilities, stretching the body into whatever shape possible is always on the list. The Boys has a supe who uses this ability named Ezekiel. Ezekiel can stretch any part of his body and change it to whatever shape is needed for the situation.

Ezekiel is weak to freezing temperatures, making his stretched limbs brittle, not unlike rubber in extreme cold. Since Ezekiel has opted to be a homophobic pastor instead of a crime fighter, it feels like he's never managed to weaponize this ability, at least not to the degree other supes have.

1 Love Sausage Has An Unseemly Ability

Love Sausage on surveillance footage 1000x500

Love Sausage was locked in Sage Grove Center when he made his first appearance on The Boys. Mother's Milk saw the outline of something in Love Sausage's pants on security footage and made a comment about its size, giving Love Sausage his name.

Later, Love Sausage choked 'M.M.' with a tentacle that slowly retracted into his pants after the gigantic Russian was knocked out. L.S. seems to be strong and durable the way many supes are as well. His powers seem effective, but they're also extremely off-putting.
