In June, it was announced that Holden would recur in Season 3 as Crimson Countess, a supe from the group known as Payback. Much like fellow newcomer Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles), an incarnation of Crimson Countess existed during World War II, while the second was active in the modern day. Holden is perhaps best known for playing Andrea in the first three seasons of AMC's The Walking Dead.

In addition to Holden's Crimson Countess and Ackles' Soldier Boy, Season 3 of The Boys will introduce  Sean Patrick Flannery as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic, Frances Turner as Monique, Kristen Booth and Jack Doolan as Tessa and Tommy/the TNT Twins and Katia Winter as Little Nina.

Filming on Season 3 wrapped in September after a lengthy production prolonged by the COVID-19 pandemic. "THATS A WRAP ON SEASON 3!" star Jack Quaid tweeted to celebrate. "Thank you to everyone who worked on this season. This thumb is for YOU! Love this cast and crew so much. I can’t wait for you guys to see just how fucked up this season is. You’re not ready."

While little is known about Season 3 of The Boys at this time, Homelander actor Antony Starr set expectations fairly high in June when he said, "Oh, my God [Season 3] is hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I've had the good fortune of being involved with! I had a great time on Season 2, and I thought we did something really cool there where we took it next-level in many ways from Season 1, and really, it’s just the extension of that. I’m always curious to see what the writers, what these crazy people, are going to cook up, and it’s a pretty great feeling in Season 3 to still be surprised and excited every time you turn a page in the material. All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out at Season 3.

Season 3 of The Boys has yet to receive a premiere date.
