The Boys' Season 3 roster of supes just got bigger.
Amazon Studios announced today that Sean Patrick Flannery (The Boondock Saints), Nick Wechsler (Revenge) and Miles Gaston Villanueva (Nancy Drew) have all joined the cast of the upcoming third season. Villanueva will play Supersonic, rumored to be an ex of Starlight's. Flannery will play Gunpowder, while Wechsler will play Blue Hawk. All three supes are original creations for the show and not featured in the comic book source material.
The official Twitter account for the show offered a trademark cheeky reply to the news, as shared by Entertainment Weekly, sarcastically stating, "Okay, maybe having some more supes around won't be so bad."
Flannery, Wechsler and Villanueva will join fellow new cast member Jensen Ackles, who will play comic book character Soldier Boy in the upcoming season. Dexter's Katia Winter also recently joined as Little Nina, another character from the source material.
While the new season doesn't yet have a release date and little is known about the plot, showrunner Eric Kripke recently teased that the premiere will be one for the history books. "Without giving away any spoilers, I was just in editing yesterday, and we’re doing something here in the Season 3 premiere that is not only I think the craziest thing we’ve ever done, it’s got to be up there with the craziest thing anyone’s ever done," Kripke said.
In addition to the main show, The Boys' college-set spinoff has steadily been filling out its cast. The show has yet to receive a pickup but it will be set at a Vought-owned university for superheroes.
