The Boys Season 2 will add Stormfront (Aya Cash), who was recently revealed in some first look pictures. In the comics, Stormfront is a superhero created by the Third Reich. However, Hitler wanted to kill him, so he was brought to the United States. Vought made him a member of Payback, a superhero team parodying the Avengers and which laid the groundwork for The Seven. He stays true to his Nazi origins, as a notorious racist freely using any ethnic slur at his disposal. He worships Hitler and appears to enjoy acts of violence, especially genocides like flooding New Orleans during Hurricane Katrina, which he considered ethnic cleansing.

Like Homelander, his Stormfront's public persona is very different than who he actually is. Ability-wise, he’s comparable to Thor and Shazam with super-strength, flight and the ability to shoot lightning. As a member of Payback, the public knows him as a Viking reincarnated into his current body. Even though he’s never the official leader of Payback, he takes command often and give orders to his teammates. He’s widely regarded as the second most powerful super (behind Homelander) but is much more vulnerable.

There are some clear differences in how Stormfront will be portrayed in the TV series. With no on-screen version of Payback, it appears Stormfront will become a member of The Seven, filling the open slot left by Hughie killing Translucent in the first season. This means Vought International will have to publicly address Translucent’s disappearance, which the company attempted to cover up in the first season.

Stormfront comic

The most obvious difference is the gender-swap. Stormfront was a man in the comics but will be a woman on the show. This could continue storylines from the first season where both of The Seven’s female members, Queen Maeve and Starlight, had to deal with Vought International forcing them to change. Stormfront’s actress, Aya Cash, has said, “She can be quite the feminist,” and went on to call her an “empowered woman.” With Madelyn Stillwell’s death leaving a position of power empty, now could be the time for chaos within Vought International.

Another element she’ll supposedly bring to the table is an online presence. Antony Starr, who plays Homelander, has called her “social-media-savvy.” While this subject was touched upon during Season 1, everything would lead one to believe Vought International handled online interactions for The Seven. This will also be somewhat different from the comics, which ran from 2006 to 2012, which was a much different period for social media.

The biggest comment on Stormfront's role in The Boys came from Aya Cash, who called her character, “a nuclear bomb that goes off in The Seven.” If she retains all her abilities from the comics, she would make a great rival to Homelander, who was able to do almost everything he wanted in Season 1. She is one of few people who could unseat him as the leader of the Seven, which could cause major problems for Vought International if her agenda doesn’t align with the company's.

While some fans may be disappointed Stormfront won’t exactly be ripped from the comics, many of the series other deviations have been praised and drew in a wider audience, so that might just be the case this time around, too.

The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as the Female, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Simon Pegg as Hughie's dad. A Season 2 premiere date has not yet been announced.
