Karl Urban, who stars as Billy Butcher on The Boys, has revealed when filming of the Prime Video series' upcoming fourth season is set to begin.

The actor shared the news during an interview with Collider. "Yeah, we're starting I think August the 22nd, we're going to be starting season four," Urban explained. "So I'm getting back, getting my Butcher back on, and I can't wait. It's a fun gang to play with, we work hard and play hard, and I can't wait to see where they take the characters from where we leave them at the end of this season."

Fans eager to know what's in store for the satirical superhero series' next season won't get answers yet, as Urban doesn't know either. "We're about two months away from filming, and I have no idea [about what's next]. So that'll tell you something, but yeah, not too far away," he said. "I'm actually going to be seeing [showrunner Eric] Kripke next week and I expect conversations will start to happen about what he's got in store. I like to give them the respect of being able to do their writing process and not be harassed by actors going, 'What are we doing?' But I can't wait. They always come up with insane stuff, so yeah, it's going to be fun."

Although a fourth season of The Boys wasn't officially announced by Prime Video until June, another season was all but certain given the show's popularity. Before the official announcement, the most concrete information on a potential Season 4 that fans had to go on was from Urban, who seemingly confirmed its existence back in March. "Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more," Kripke said at the time of the official renewal. "We're thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys' fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success."

The Boys is based on the comic series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and centers on the titular team's battle with corrupt superheroes who lack accountability. The series' popularity has grown immensely since its premiere in 2019, so much so that Kripke has even requested video game director Hideo Kojima to "come make a [The Boys] game. We can team up and conquer!"

New episodes of The Boys Season 3 are available to stream every Friday on Prime Video.
