The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke reminded fans in November that a Herogasm-themed episode would air sometime in Season 3. He recently followed up on his promise by confirming which episode in the new season will bring the massive superhero orgy to life.
Kripke posted a photo of The Boys Season 3, Episode 6's title page on Twitter with the caption, "From day one, everyone dared me to make this episode. CHALLENGE MET MOTHERFUCKERS." The shared photo also revealed the episode's title is "Herogasm."
Plans to bring the disturbingly raw orgy to life from the six-issue comic miniseries by Garth Ennis and John McCrea were in the works for the last year, but dependent on whether or not the now acclaimed Amazon Prime Video series would be renewed for a Season 3.
In 2019, Kripke told fans, "We JUST figured out how to do Herogasm!! It'll come in Season 3 maybe (if we get picked up for Season 3). I've really wanted to do it but needed to figure out our twist on it, so it's not just an hour of hardcore porn. But I think we got it!!"
Herogasm was an arc set in The Boys universe that saw the misfit team infiltrate an annual, weekend-long Vought party. However, the party ended up being a secret, annual superhero orgy, paid for by Vought, to help its superheroes unwind with sex and drugs. Vought faked a public crisis to explain the sudden disappearance of Supes. While there, The Boys discovered key details about Vought's plans to infiltrate the White House.
Within the Herogasm miniseries, there is an infamously dark sex-scene between Homelander and Solider Boy. Since Jensen Ackles was cast as Soldier Boy in 2020, fans speculated that this scene might appear in Season 3. As of now, there's been no firm confirmation if Kripke will revisit this moment.
Currently, there is no confirmed release date for The Boys Season 3. However, Seasons 1 and 2 previously released 10 months after their filming ended. Since it's known that Season 3's filming is expected to begin in February and end in August, it's possible Season 3 will premiere on Amazon Prime Video sometime in late 2022, pending any delays from COVID-19.
