Fan-favorite actor Simon Pegg poses with his small screen family ahead of The Boys Season 4.

In an Instagram story posted on Jan. 14, Pegg celebrated a "Campbells family dinner" with fellow The Boys co-stars Jack Quaid, who portrays Hughie, and Rosemary DeWitt, who is set to make her debut in Season 4 as Hughie's mother, the mysterious Mrs. Campbell. It's currently unknown whether the trio is in costume or if this is a behind-the-scenes image. Pegg has only appeared sporadically throughout The Boys, featuring the first and third seasons while being absent from the second.

While the image of Hughie and his parents is a seemingly wholesome snap, The Boys isn't known to be comfortable viewing. Prime Video's adaptation of Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book is known for its over-the-top violence, debauchery and gore. Of the upcoming fourth season, VFX supervisor Stephan Fleet said, "I think I just saw the most disgusting thing I have seen working in this business thus far."

The Boys' New Supes and Civilians

Apart from DeWitt's Mrs. Campbell, Season 4 is set to introduce several other new characters, including Jeffrey Dean Morgan in a yet undisclosed role. When asked about Morgan's character, Black Noir actor Nathan Mitchell responded, "I don't know how much can be revealed about that character, but I think the cool thing about this show is we're always going in different directions and showing you different storylines and different characters in ways you wouldn't expect, so I think that Jeffrey Dean Morgan is going to play a role that stays with fans for a long time."

Mitchell has also opened up about being able to portray a new version of Black Noir following the original's apparent demise at the end of The Boys Season 3. Mitchell explained, "If we were going to play and remix the character, I think that everyone's seen a very stoic version of Black Noir, so if they were going to do something new, I think it would be fun to go in the opposite direction..." It remains to be seen how The Boys will reinvent one of the show's most popular characters.

The first three seasons of The Boys are available to stream on Prime Video. At the time of writing, Season 4 does not yet have an official release date.
