Production on Season 4 of Prime Video's The Boys is about to begin.

The Boys showrunner Eric Kripke shared a photo on Twitter of himself heading to Toronto, Canada, where The Boys has filmed its first three seasons. Kripke tagged the photo with #Season4, revealing that work on the upcoming season is about to begin.

Amazon picked up The Boys for a fourth season in June just days after its Season 3 premiere. While little is known regarding the details of the upcoming season, it was recently confirmed that Cameron Crovetti, who plays Homelander's super-powered son, Ryan, had been promoted to a series regular for Season 4. It was also confirmed that the series had added two original supes to the new season as well: Valorie Curry as Firecracker and Susan Heyward as Sister Sage.

Season 4 of The Boys Begins

"From our first conversation with Eric Kripke and the creative team about Season Three of The Boys, we knew the show was continuing to get even bolder -- an impressive feat considering the wild success of the Emmy-nominated second season," said Vernon Sanders, head of global television, Amazon Studios when the series was renewed. "The Boys continues to push boundaries in storytelling while also being relentlessly entertaining and threading the needle on social satire that feels all too real. This stylized world of the series has incredible global reach and the viewership for opening weekend is proof of that. We are immensely proud of the cast and crew that has spawned a franchise for Prime Video, and we look forward to bringing more of The Boys to our customers."

Amazon's confirmation of The Boys' Season 4 renewal came after Karl Urban, who stars in the series as Billy Butcher, seemingly confirmed in March that he would be returning for another season. However, this came well before the official announcement from Amazon.

"Speaking for the cast and crew, we’re so grateful to Sony, Amazon, and most of all the fans for embracing the show and allowing us to make more," said showrunner Eric Kripke in a statement regarding Season 4. "We're thrilled to continue Butcher and the Boys' fight against Homelander and the Seven, as well as comment on the insane world we’re living in. Also, this is the first time in history that exploding genitalia has led to further success."

The Boys is based on the comic series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson and the first two seasons of the show, created by Kripke, first aired on Prime Video. Season 3 of The Boys wrapped filming in September of 2021, and it was reported in August that had already been picked up for Season 4. The long-awaited third season began filming in late January 2021 in Toronto following production delays due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic.

The first three seasons of The Boys are now available to stream on Prime Video.
