Fans will "freak out" when the new season of The Boys releases, says actor Antony Starr.

In a recent interview with TVLine, the actor said that the upcoming third season of the series is his favorite yet. "Oh, my God [Season 3] is hands down one of the most enjoyable seasons of TV I've had the good fortune of being involved with!"

"I'm always curious to see what the writers, what these crazy people, are going to cook up," Starr continued. The new season promises to introduce a slew of plotlines and characters, including Supernatural alum Jensen Ackles as "Soldier Boy" and The Walking Dead's Laurie Holden as the "Crimson Countess", along with other new faces. Original creations for the show will include Sean Patrick Flannery (The Boondock Saints) as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler (Revenge) as Blue Hawk and Miles Gaston Villanueva (Nancy Drew) as Supersonic.

Starr is thrilled to be included in the ever-evolving production, claiming that there always seems to be something new to witness. "It's a pretty great feeling in Season 3 to still be surprised and excited every time you turn a page in the material. All I can say is I truly believe the fans are going to freak out at Season 3."

Starr's character, Homelander, went through a lot in Season 2. He finally realized that he was not the only being of immense power when he discovered he had a son, hopeful that he could finally relate to someone. He then found even more catharsis when he formed a romantic entanglement with Stormfront.

However, the season finale saw Homelander blackmailed, Stormfront in a state worse than death and his son stripped away, leaving the antagonist alone again with much to explore going forward. "I had a great time on Season 2," Starr said. "I thought we did something really cool there where we took it next-level in many ways from Season 1, and really [Season 3], it's just the extension of that."

So far, the only words fans have on Homelander going forward comes from creator Eric Kripke, who said to Starr that the character will be a "homicidal maniac". The wait to see this behavior in action is on with the third season having no release date, but Starr promises that "the payoff is going to be worth the wait."

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, Katia Winter as Little Nina, Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Sean Patrick Flannery as Gunpowder, Nick Wechsler as Blue Hawk, Miles Gaston Villanueva as Supersonic and Laurie Holden as Crimson Countess. Season 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
