The Boys Season 2 may have just ended, but it looks like Season 3 is just around the corner.

Showrunner Eric Kripke announced The Boys will return soon, as Season 3 will begin filming in early 2021. Along with his announcement, Kripke shared a photo of the Season 3, Episode 1 script. Based on the image, the episode was written by Craig Rosenberg and will be titled "Payback."

Payback is the name of The Boys' second most popular superhero team and is known as the "Seven before the Seven." The leader of the team is Soldier Boy, one of the first Supes injected with Compound V. Amazon has already cast Supernatural actor Jensen Ackles for the role of Soldier Boy and Kripke announced that the new Supe will reveal more about Stormfront's Nazi past.

In the comics, the other members of Payback included Stormfront, Eagle the Archer, Tek-Knight and Crimson Countess. Most of these members have already appeared in the show or have been mentioned by name. Stormfront was obviously neutralized in the Season 2 finale, and Eagle the Archer appeared in Season 2, played by Langston Kerman. The last time fans saw him, he had been ostracized by the Church of the Collective. Tek Knight was mentioned by name during a scene in the first season of the series, when Butcher took Hughie to a group therapy session for victims of superhero collateral damage. A woman in a wheelchair stated that Tek-Knight shattered her spine while attempting to save her.

The Season 2 synopsis of The Boys can be found below.

The even more intense, more insane season two finds The Boys on the run from the law, hunted by the Supes, and desperately trying to regroup and fight back against Vought. In hiding, Hughie (Jack Quaid), Mother’s Milk (Laz Alonso), Frenchie (Tomer Capon) and Kimiko (Karen Fukuhara) try to adjust to a new normal, with Butcher (Karl Urban) nowhere to be found. Meanwhile, Starlight (Erin Moriarty) must navigate her place in The Seven as Homelander (Antony Starr) sets his sights on taking complete control. His power is threatened with the addition of Stormfront (Aya Cash), a social-media-savvy new Supe, who has an agenda of her own. On top of that, the Supervillain threat takes center stage and makes waves as Vought seeks to capitalize on the nation’s paranoia.

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Aya Cash as Stormfront. New episodes of Season 2 release Fridays on Amazon Prime Video.
