Speculation about Season 2 of Amazon’s The Boys began before the sophomore season was officially confirmed, but that’s no longer the case. Amazon today renewed the show for a second season a week before its debut season is set to air.

Based on the comic series of the same name by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson, The Boys imagines a world where powerful superheroes are revered like deities. They’re also totally, completely corrupt. Enter the Boys, a group of likeminded individuals set on exposing the supposed heroes for what they really are.

As for that speculation prior to the Season 2 renewal, it turns out it was right on the mark. The renewal announcement also came with confirmation that You’re the Worst actor Aya Cash will join the series in Season 2, which was rumored as early as last week. While Amazon didn’t divulge which character Cash will play, that same rumor posits she has nabbed the role of Stormfront, a combination of Marvel’s Thor and DC’s Shazam who is also an irredeemable racist.

The Boys is set to premiere on Amazon Prime Video this July 26. The series stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Capon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as the Female, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Simon Pegg as Hughie's dad.
