A new Vought News Network video reveals just what happened to Matthew Culbert/Gecko (David Thompson) -- a supe with the ability to regenerate his limbs -- after the end of The Boys Season 2.In the video, which you can see below, VNN anchor Cameron Coleman reveals video of Gecko having his genitalia cut off for money by a man in a Santa Claus costume. In The Boys Season 2, Starlight used Gecko, who was a childhood friend, to steal a sample of Compound V -- the drug that makes supes -- from the Vought International lab where he worked. Initially, Gecko refuses, but Starlight reveals she took a video of him moonlighting as a prostitute that allows people to cut off his limbs, which regenerate soon after. This blackmail forces him to acquiesce to her demand, and that Compound V proves integral in proving supers are made, not born.

Developed by Eric Kripke, The Boys is based on Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson's comic book series of the same name, though the show takes some major liberties with the source material. The Boys follows Billy Butcher (Karl Urban), Hughie Campbell (Jack Quaid) and their allies as they attempt to take down Vought International, the megacorporation responsible for a superhero group called The Seven.

After debuting in 2019, The Boys proved a massive success for Amazon Prime Video. A second season followed in 2020, and there are several spinoffs in the works. While Season 3 has yet to air, there are reportedly already plans for a fourth season of The Boys.

Full plot details about The Boys Season 3 aren't known at this time. However, at the end of Season 2, Hughie left the group to work with Victoria Neuman (Claudia Doumit), a secret supe that used her powers to murder several high-profile people. Additionally, Jensen Ackles will join the series as Soldier Boy, who is essentially the comic's dark version of Steve Rogers/Captain America.

At this time, The Boys Season 3 does not have a set release date. Following production delays as a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, filming started in February of this year and wrapped in September.
