Following the release of the trailer for The Boys' third season, the Prime Video series implored the Thor: Love and Thunder director, Taika Waititi, to release the trailer for the upcoming Marvel film as well. "A trailer for a trailer, @TaikaWaititi? Where's Thor: Love and Thunder?" The Boys wrote on Twitter. Trailers for both Thor: Love and Thunder and The Boys Season 3 came after a significant wait and increasing demand from fans, with The Boys releasing the first Season 3 teaser on March 12, almost a month prior to the release of Thor 4's teaser.

Marvel Studios release of Love and Thunder's first teaser gives the film the shortest marketing window in the history of the MCU between the release of a first trailer and a film's release date. As for The Boys, an official release date for Season 3 was announced ahead of the first teaser after a lengthy wait. Leading up to the release of Season 3's teaser, both showrunner Eric Kripke and The Boys' social media periodically teased Season 3, while poking fun at anxious fans who repeatedly asked for updates, at one point stating that the season would not premiere until "2033."

Chris Hemsworth will reprise his role as Thor for Love and Thunder, which will pick up after the events of Avengers: Endgame. According to the official synopsis, Love and Thunder will see Thor, joined by the Guardians of the Galaxy, Jane Foster (Natalie Portman) and King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), go up against the villainous Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.

Waititi has previously stated that Love and Thunder will not only be "crazier," but much more emotional than its previous film, Thor: Ragnarok. "It's crazier. I'll tell you what's different," he said. "There'll be far more emotion in this film. And a lot more love. And a lot more thunder. And a lot more Thor, if you've seen the photos."

The Boys' long-awaited third season began filming late Jan. 2021 in Toronto following production delays due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. While little has been revealed about Season 3's plot, the official teaser trailer offered a first live-action look at Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy, Laurie Holden's Crimson Countess in action and Billy Butcher's newfound superpowers.

Season 3 of The Boys premieres on Prime Video June 3, and Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters a month later on July 8.
