WARNING: The following contains spoilers for The Boys Season 2, available now on Amazon Prime Video.

Nathan Mitchell, who plays Black Noir on Amazon Prime's The Boys, hinted that his character returns in Season 3 during a recent interview.

"He's not dead," Mitchell said in an interview with Comicbook.com. "And hopefully he will come back before most think he will." The actor, however, indicated that Noir's close brush with death will likely leave him changed.

In Season 2, Episode 7, Black Noir attempted to attack Starlight (Erin Moriarty) but was interrupted by Queen Maeve (Dominique McElligott), who force-fed the severe nut allergic Noir an Almond Joy. In The Boys' Season 2 finale, the character Stormfront revealed that Black Noir survived the incident but is currently "unresponsive."

Throughout The Boys' two seasons, Black Noir had yet to face an enemy he couldn't overcome. That confidence and presumed invulnerability changed courtesy of Maeve and the surprise Hershey treat. Mitchell described his character's close call to death, saying "... He was this close. It's a real thing for him."

While Season 2's finale stated Black Noir was "unresponsive," Stormfront mentioned that doctors haven't detected any brain damage, which leaves an opening for the fan-favorite character to return in the third season. Showrunner Eric Kripke also confirmed in a recent Twitter post that Black Noir will return, we will learn more of his back-story and possibly even see the character un-mask in Season 3. However, Kripke hasn't confirmed officially which episodes and when this would happen in The Boys.

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Aya Cash as Stormfront. Seasons 1 and 2 are currently streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
