WARNING: The following contains major spoilers for The Boys #70, story by Garth Ennis and art by Russ Braun, as well as spoilers for Season 2, Episode 6, "The Bloody Doors Off," available now on Amazon Prime Video.

Amazon Prime's adaptation of The Boys has remained faithful to the spirit of the comic while seriously deviating from it. One prominent example of this is with Love Sausage, who was introduced briefly in Season 2, Episode 6, "The Bloody Doors Off." The Love Sausage of the comics is a trusted ally of the team who helps them win a battle against Stormfront. In the show, he's one of the test subjects of Sage Grove and attacks Mother's Milk in one of the most infamous scenes of the season, using his expendable penis to choke M.M.

While this Love Sausage is not the same as the one in the comics, the scene itself feels reminiscent of a moment from The Boys #70. Hughie is on a collision course with Butcher, who's killed the rest of their team to keep them from interfering with his ultimate solution for the Supes. Hughie's the only person who can stop him from setting off a bomb that would explode the head of anyone with Compound V in their system.

The issue opens in the aftermath of Butcher bombing the team's headquarters, which killed Frenchie and Kimiko. Hughie begins the issue in shock, but he snaps out of it, realizing he'll have to confront Butcher by himself, but he needs an equalizer, so he goes to M.M.'s mother.

In the comics, M.M. is the only member of the team born with Compound V in his system because Vought exposed his mother to it prior to his birth. Because of this, M.M. requires a regular dose of her breast milk to maintain his strength and stay alive. Hughie tracks her down, hoping her milk can make him as strong as M.M. What starts as an awkward request soon becomes a horrific encounter when Hughie discovers what's happened to her over the years.

Instead of an elderly woman, M.M.'s mother has become a massive pile of skin, and she towers over Hughie. Thinking he's her son, she snares Hughie with something resembling a tendril, just like Love Sausage did to Mother's Milk in the show. It turns out she's using her breast to grab Hughie before forcing him to drink from it.

This fate is a final indignity for a character who goes through plenty of tragedy. She's exposed to Compound V while working in factory that was formerly a Vought laboratory. Because of this, both M.M. and his brother, Michael, are born with altered anatomies. While M.M. is physically dependent on Compound V, Michael has an intellectual disability because of the drug. M.M.'s father sues Vought for its negligence, doing most of the legal leg work himself. While he initially wins a small victory, after Michael's death, M.M.'s dad plans to sue once more, but he dies from exhaustion before he can.

The Boys Issue 35 Comic Panel

Along with the obvious differences between these two scenes, with Hughie and M.M.'s mom being swapped out for M.M. and Love Sausage, there is another difference. Where Hughie approaches M.M.'s mom by himself, deciding to take this secret to the grave, M.M. is attacked by Love Sausage in front of Lamplighter, Frenchie and Kimiko. Given the absurdity of this scene for both viewers and the characters, it wouldn't be surprising if The Boys reminded M.M. of this strange encounter from time to time, especially if Love Sausage ever comes back to the show.

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as the Female, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Aya Cash as Stormfront. Season 2 is airing on Prime Video now.
