A scene from the fifth episode of The Boys Season 2 had many fans cringing when two business consultants pitched ideas that used Queen Maeve's sexuality as a marketing strategy.Posted on Twitter, the scene in question shows Queen Maeve and her girlfriend, Elena, sitting uncomfortably as the marketing duo pitch their ideas, which include having Elena look less feminine. "Peer research shows that two feminine women in a relationship sends a problematic message," says one of the consultants. The Boys is known for satirizing and commenting on certain elements of modern society, including celebrity culture and white supremacy, with executive producer Eric Kripke previously saying, "We're going after white nationalism in Season 2. We're going after systemic racism in Season 2."

Season 2 of The Boys premiered on Sept. 4, 2020, and features Billy Butcher's return after previously learning his wife, Becca, is still alive. The season has also introduced several new characters, including Aya Cash's Stormfront, Langston Kerman's Eagle the Archer and P. J. Byrne's Adam Bourke.

Like the first season, Season 2 of The Boys will feature eight episodes in total with new episodes premiering on Amazon Prime every Friday. New episodes are followed by an aftershow hosted by Aisha Tyler.
