The Boys offered actor Kimiko/the Female actress Karen Fukuhara a Happy Birthday statement in the most wholesome, politically incorrect way possible.
Fukuhara was tagged by The Boys' Twitter page in a behind-the-scene post of her relaxing and covered in fake blood on Feb. 10 to celebrate her 28th birthday. "Happy Birthday to [Karen Fukuhara]," the post said. "The most badass Karen there is."Â
Prime Video also posted a comment underneath The Boys' Tweet, writing "Happy birthday [Karen Fukuhara]! I'm really hoping you're wearing the BOSSY ring today." Attached to their comment was a gif of Kimiko wearing the aforementioned BOSSY brass knuckles from the Season 6 episode "The Bloody Doors Off."
First introduced in The Boys' Episode 4, "The Female of the Species," Kimiko was a metahuman test subject whom the Boys eventually freed and, while initially hostile toward them, became part of Billy Butcher's (Karl Urban) team as its only superpowered member. Throughout the show, she's demonstrated not only enhanced strength and agility, but also powerful healing abilities that allow her to survive literal near-death experiences against members of the Seven like A-Train and Stormfront.
Season 2 of The Boys delved more into Kimiko's backstory by briefly reuniting the character with her brother Kenji (Abraham Lim), revealing that they were part of the Shining Light Liberation Army and received Compound-V from the organization, which gave them both special abilities. His death at the hands of Stormfront briefly set Kimiko on a quest for vengeance against the fascist superhero, eventually fighting her again in the Season 2 finale. Though Kimiko remained mute throughout the series, Season 2 also revealed that she's able to communicate through sign language around Kenji and later Frenchie (Tomer Kapon), with whom she gradually developed a friendship.
