Jensen Ackles shared a video as he gets himself in superhero shape for his role as Soldier Boy in Amazon Prime Video's The Boys.

The video, posted on Instagram, sees Ackles doing dumbbell bicep curls before dropping the weights and exhaustedly saying to the camera, "These superhero workouts are much different. It was so much easier when all I had to do was wear flannel." The caption for the video reads "Okay [Stephen Amell, Grant Gustin] and all you other Supes out there...I’m beginning to understand the struggle. Or maybe I’m just too old for this crap."

In Season 3 of The Boys, Ackles will be playing Soldier Boy, the first superhero created by Vought Industries who fought in World War II and became a beloved celebrity and "a mainstay of American culture for decades." Ackles' casting was announced in August 2020.

Fellow Boys actor Laz Alonso stated that every season of the show "is getting darker and darker" and that the arrival of Soldier Boy into the main cast "allowed [showrunner Eric Kripke] to not only bring in a character historically who's pretty dark, but it also makes all of the other ensemble Supes darker as well."

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, Katia Winter as Little Nina and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. Seasons 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
