The Boys is known for tackling risque subject matter, yet star Laz Alonso revealed things are about to get even darker when Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy arrives.

Alonso was recently interviewed by Collider, where he talked about the arrival of the Supernatural alum as Soldier Boy. Every season "is getting darker and darker" under showrunner Eric Kripke, according to Alonso, and Soldier Boy's appearance "allowed [Kripke] to not only bring in a character historically who's pretty dark, but it also makes all of the other ensemble Supes darker as well."

In The Boys comic, Soldier Boy was a patriotic-themed pastiche of Captain America, who sought to leave his current team, Payback, and join The Seven. While claiming to have fought in World War II, it's later revealed that the current Soldier Boy is holding onto a legacy title -- and is a coward to boot. Ackles was first announced as Soldier Boy in August 2020, with the role reuniting him with Kripke, who created Ackles' previous TV show Supernatural.

Kripke also previously teased a connection between Soldier Boy and Stormfront, as the latter joined The Seven in Season 2 and was revealed to be one of the first Supes, along with being a Nazi. "Yes, he knew [Stormfront] when she was Liberty," Kripke said. "He was like John Wayne there, and so as a result, we're writing the history of Vought and how all the characters weave in together. And yeah, now Liberty is definitely a part of that."

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, Katia Winter as Little Nina and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. Seasons 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
