The Boys' Soldier Boy is looking harried and definitely hairy.

Showrunner Eric Kripke revealed a closer look at Soldier Boy's (Jensen Ackles) beard on Twitter. Kripke captioned the post, "Enter #SoldierBoy. BUCKLE UP MOTHERF***ERS."

Previously, a haggard version of Soldier Boy was teased by Ackles. At the time, the Instagram post seemed to be an image of the actor in quarantine with his personal facial hair of choice, not that of his character; but Kripke's latest post shows that Soldier Boy will be sporting a full beard for his Season 3 debut. The Supernatural star was cast as Soldier Boy in August 2020.

Although not too much is known of when or how Soldier Boy will join the upcoming season, Kripke confirmed some facts about his take on the comic character and how the show will handle his character's arc in December 2020. Kripke confirmed that Soldier Boy did "know [Stormfront] when she was Liberty." The showrunner added, "He was like John Wayne [at Vought], and so as a result, we're writing the history of Vought and how all the characters weave in together. And yeah, now Liberty is definitely a part of that."

The Boys star Laz Alonso, who portrays MM on the Amazon Prime series, teased that Soldier Boy's upcoming storyline will make things even "darker." In April, Alonso shared that Soldier Boy's character "allowed [Kripke] to not only bring in a character historically who's pretty dark, but it also makes all of the other ensemble Supes darker as well."

Soldier Boy is a character within The Boys comic series co-created by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson. In the comics, the character served as a satirizing take on Captain America and unwavering patriotism that causes harm to others. Described as the "first superhero," the character erroneously claimed to have fought in WWII and used his powers and "vet-status" to become an American celebrity. While originally belonging to a group called Payback, he later joins the Seven and has a fraught and complicated relationship with Homelander.

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander, Katia Winter as Little Nina and Jensen Ackles as Soldier Boy. Seasons 3 has yet to receive a premiere date.
