The Boys recently nominated Homelander for Best Actor as part of a wider parody of awards season campaigning by the Prime Video superhero series.

The "For Your Consideration" spoof surfaced on the real-world Twitter account for the fictional corporation Vought International. It encourages Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences members to add the in-universe movie Dawn of the Seven to the voting ballot in all categories, with evil Superman pastiche Homelander singled out for a Best Actor nomination. The parody also lampoons film studios' penchant for shameless promotion in the run-up to the Oscars by having Vought proclaim: "We're proud to market our marketing."

While The Boys' "For Your Consideration" gag coincides with the start of awards season in general, it seems likely that the satirical series was taking shots at Marvel Studios in particular. The studio's parent company Disney just launched its Oscars campaign and pushed all three of the most recent Marvel Cinematic Universe movies as Best Picture candidates. This resulted in a wave of backlash on Twitter, especially where one prospective nominee, Thor: Love and Thunder, was concerned. Indeed, even some self-avowed MCU fans were adamant that Thor: Love and Thunder isn't worthy of the film industry's highest honor.

The Boys Cast Expands In Season 4

The team behind The Boys haven't devoted their time solely to taking shots at rival franchises since the show's third season wrapped up in July 2022, however. Production is currently underway on The Boys Season 4, which will see several additions to the Prime Video series' cast. Notably, Rosemary DeWitt will portray Hughie's mother, Mrs. Campbell, and Elliot Knight and Rob Benedict are also onboard in as-yet-undisclosed roles. Then there's The Walking Dead's Jeffrey Dean Morgan, whose fourth season part is such a secret, not even his co-stars know who he's playing.

The Boys universe is set to expand beyond the main series, animated anthology series The Boys Presents: Diabolical and web series Seven on 7, too. A new spinoff, Gen V, is on the way and will skewer "college superhero" properties such as X-Men. The first Gen V trailer arrived in December 2022, giving fans their first look at franchise newcomers Lizzie Broadway, Jaz Sinclair, Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Shelley Conn, Asa Germann, Derek Luh, Chance Perdomo, Maddi Phillips, Marco Pigossi and London Thor in action.

The Boys Seasons 1-3 are currently streaming on Prime Video. Gen V does not yet have a release date but is expected to premiere sometime in 2023.
