The Boys revealed the exact date that the highly-anticipated Season 3 "Herograsm" episode will air on Prime Video.

While showrunner Eric Kripke previously revealed that "Herogasm" would appear as the sixth episode in Season 3, the series shared via its official Twitter account that the anticipated superhero orgy will premiere on June 24, 2022.

Writer Garth Ennis and artist John McCrea first brought "Herogasm" to life in the pages of their six-issue comic miniseries, The Boys: Herogasm, which saw Earth's superheroes meet for a week-long, Vought-paid-for orgy. The storyline follows The Boys titular band of misfits as they infiltrate a secret, annual orgy of Vought International supes, designed to help the heroes unwind. "From day one, everyone dared me to make this episode," Kripke said when he announced the series would be tackling the arc. "CHALLENGE MET MOTHERFUCKERS."

While the showrunner has stated that the premiere episode of Season 3 will be the "craziest" thing the show has accomplished thus far, he also noted that things will get even more out of hand in Episode 6. "There will be no topping 'Herogasm.' Now that I've seen the dailies of this thing, I'm like, what have we done? It's just so crazy," Kripke said.

Despite the opportunity to let loose in "Herogasm," especially on a series known for its brutal violence, Kripke also noted that there is a line the show won't cross and that anything over-the-top that appears on screen can't be unwarranted. "They've always let us do what we wanted to do. But I think because of that it comes with a responsibility to moderate and modulate ourselves. You never want to fall on the side of just being gratuitous and gross," he said. "I don't want this show to be irresponsible. I want it to be shocking and outrageous, but of a moral universe."

After already being renewed for a fourth season, The Boys finally announced the official premiere date for Season 3, which wrapped filming in September of last year and will reportedly be the bloodiest installment of the series yet. The long-awaited third season began filming late Jan. 2021 in Toronto following production delays due to the coronavirus (COVID-19). The official release date comes after a lengthy wait, with both Kripke and The Boys' social media periodically teasing Season 3, while also poking fun at fans who repeatedly asked for updates, at one point stating that the season would not premiere until "2033."

Prior to this official release date announcement, Kripke teased a mind-blowing first episode, calling it both "insane" and "special." The Boys Twitter account responded to Kripke saying the "editing room is fully covered in gore already and they're only working on episode 1."
