The first trailer for The Boys' college-themed spinoff, Gen V, has been released.

The trailer was released during CCXP, giving fans their first look at the supes-in-training attending Godolkin University. In typical The Boys fashion, the first look features plenty of blood and guts, but adds puppets (one of Chace Crawford's The Deep, gills and all) and some familiar faces from the main series. The Seven's speedster supe A-Train (Jessie T. Usher), Vought Vice President Ashley Barrett (Colby Minifie) and Dawn of the Seven director Adam Bourke (Paul Jeffrey Byrne) are among those familiar faces, appearing in the trailer alongside the spinoff's newcomers.

Back in July 2022, the official title of the spinoff was revealed as Gen V, with the show's cast introducing themselves to fans of The Boys in a video. Gen V stars Lizzie Broadway as Emma Shaw and Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau, with the show's other cast members including Patrick Schwarzenegger, Sean Patrick Thomas, Shelley Conn, Asa Germann, Derek Luh, Chance Perdomo, Maddi Phillips, Marco Pigossi and London Thor. What exactly these actors' characters will face remains to be seen, but the trailer shows armed guards dragging people away and disemboweled in a hallway, someone drenched in blood and what appears to be the college hijinks of Godolkin University's supe students.

What Is the Inspiration for The Boys' Spinoff, Gen V?

Godolkin University, a main locale for Gen V, is named after John Godolkin. In the original comic series created by writer Garth Ennis and artist Darick Robertson, Godlokin is The Boys' spin on Marvel's Professor X, leading the "G-Men" as opposed to the X-Men. Though the G-Men are regarded as the most profitable asset for The Boys' evil superhero corporation, Vought, Godolkin and the G-Men engage in pedophilic and other criminal behavior.

Gen V Season 1 is expected to release prior to The Boys Season 4, which has begun filming as of writing. While some stars from The Boys are set to cross over to Gen V, one has revealed that he has not been asked to appear on Gen V yet: Hughie Campbell actor Jack Quaid. The G-Men arc of The Boys comics revolves around Hughie going undercover within the G-Men's ranks, something Quaid said he would be game for back in 2020.

As for The Boys Season 4, the show has added The Walking Dead actor Jeffrey Dean Morgan in an undisclosed role, along with Rosemarie DeWitt as Hughie's mom, two new supes and others. The newcomer heroes are Firecracker (Valorie Curry) and Sage (Susan Heyward), with the former sporting a patriotic outfit and the latter a dark orange suit. The actor who plays Homelander's son, Cameron Crovetti, has also been promoted to series regular for Season 4.

Gen V is set to release sometime in 2023. No official release date has been revealed at this time.
