The Boys is no stranger to controversial subject matter. The recent second season of the Amazon Prime series has plot points and story arcs concerning such topics as Nazis, sexual assault, cults, racism, sexism and political corruption, among others. It appears nothing is off-limits for the show that routinely depicts so-called superheroes engaging in a litany of morally depraved acts with little to no remorse. While pondering the possibilities of the next season, a subtle Easter egg in the Season 2 premiere hints at the possible existence and inclusion of one of the most disturbing Supe teams from the comics: the G-Men.

In conjunction with most of the other Supe characters from The Boys, the G-Men are a satirical incarnation of an existing comic book franchise. Much as Homelander is a pastiche of all-American good guys like Superman and Captain America, the G-Men are a direct send-up of Marvel's X-Men. However, replacing the noble leader Charles Xavier and idealistic morals of the X-Men is the G-Men's John Godolkin, a narcissistic sociopath and child molester.

As recently reported by The Wrap, an upcoming spin-off of The Boys is in the works. The series is to be set on a college campus and will be "loosely inspired" by the G-Men from the comics, as confirmed by The Boys' showrunner, Eric Kripke. While it is currently unknown to what extent this new series will cross-over with the original, if at all, a worrying cameo is glimpsed briefly in the first episode of Season 2, "The Big Ride."

While focusing on the primary story of The Deep and his public fall from grace, a side bar from the TMZ-esque LOLtv reads, "#G-Too? G-Men Scandal!" This is a clear reference to the #MeToo movement, a social movement uniting people against sexual misconduct and misogyny started by Tarana Burke in 2006, gaining widespread exposure in 2017 following the firestorm of heinous allegations against Harvey Weinstein and other powerful abusers.

As of the end of the second season, The Boys television series has not gone into any further detail regarding this in-universe news story or the size and scope of the #G-Too movement, if there even is one. However, it is easy to surmise that the scandal may have something to do with the G-Men's charismatic and deranged leader from the comics, John Godolkin.

Godolkin, a parody of Doom Patrol's Niles Caulder and the aforementioned Charles Xavier, created the G-Men by kidnapping children from different homes and administering them Compound-V until they developed superpowers or died trying. The exorbitantly-wealthy Godolkin raised the surviving children in an environment with no rules, no morals and access to unlimited money and resources. It is presumed that Godolkin sexually abused most, if not all, of his G-Men, a fact known to Vought executives as on numerous occasions certain Vought-American officials joined him.

Just as the #MeToo movement showed in Hollywood, money and power can help cover up any scandal, no matter how vile. For years, the G-Men were one of Vought's most profitable teams, rivaling that of The Seven themselves. Their image as outcasts, loners and weirdos appealed to a younger, cooler, hipper demographic -- one that Vought was eager to keep. Godolkin and the rest of his G-Men do meet a typically bloody end in the comics, but it remains to be seen how much of an impact they will have on the Amazon series and its upcoming spin-off.
