The following contains spoilers for The Boys Season 3, Episode 5, "The Last Time to Look on This World of Lies.

In Season 3 of The Boys, the Deep has had quite a journey. He's glad to have been incorporated into the fold again after Homelander wanted more white folks on board to back his vision, but Deep's been forced to eat an octopus he had telepathic sex with, which wrecked his mind for a bit. It's all part of Homelander's toxic hazing, but something Deep has to stomach if he's to become his right-hand man. All this sucking up led to Deep getting a new role at Vought International after Homelander finally took over. However, it could turn out to be the tyrant's Achilles heel given how he's treating his employees and how many folks hate him.

Deep was confirmed to be the new head of Crime Analytics, which is charged with monitoring all felons, capes and their encounters across America. They monitored Soldier Boy's explosive arrival, and can track most uses of Compound V; although, cases such as Billie and Hughie go unnoticed thanks to Maeve and their underground ways. Other than that, this division helped Vought see and know all.

Homelander's too arrogant to care, though, which is why he gave this most important security unit to Deep. Sadly, Deep fired most of the staff, trying to exert power the way his boss does. This could backfire, as Starlight has been using the remnant workers to take Homelander out. She's furious after A-Train also betrayed Supersonic, leading to her ally's death, so she's working with angry colleagues to plot against Team Homelander. The thing is, given their ingenuity and all the footage they have, this could bring Vought down.

If the media gets ahold of their intellegence, it's hard to see Homelander waging a PR campaign against it. It can even lead to him murdering the Deep out of anger, which would feel like karma, as Deep is far from a redeemed Supe. The problem is, Homelander won't care because he's just looking for an excuse to turn on humanity.

That said, while the division can destroy his empire, it could also rally capes to the cause. Starlight can use it to assemble heroes, and if she patches things up with Hughie and Billy, she can help them form a plan of attack with Soldier Boy as their weapon.

Even if she doesn't mend fences, Starlight could use the network to find a missing Maeve and run at Homelander one last time. With Crime Analytics as a god's eye of sorts, she has to use it now, knowing Deep isn't focused on the job. In that sense, the incompetent Deep could be a blessing in disguise, as Starlight ultimately tries to save America, and by extension, the world, from this monster.
