October's second week brought with it a slew of trailers for such upcoming offerings as The Boys, The Addams Family 2 and Bugsnax. However, with a lot of new premieres on the horizon for the 2020-2021 television season, there was much more than that.Here are all the biggest trailers, promos and teasers from the second week of October 2020.
The Addams Family 2
After its successful theatrical run last year, the CG animated revival of The Addams Family is receiving a sequel to help ring in Halloween next year. Joined by new cast members Bill Hader and Javon "Wanna" Walton, the film reunites the main voice cast with director Greg Tiernan. A teaser trailer has the creepy and kooky family confirming a return to theaters in their signature macabre manner.
Directed by Greg Tiernan, The Addams Family 2 stars Charlize Theron, Oscar Isaac, Chloë Grace Moretz, Nick Kroll, Bette Midler, Snoop Dogg, Bill Hader and Javon "Wanna" Walton. The film will be released Oct. 8, 2021.
American Gods
One of author Neil Gaiman's most acclaimed works is his 2001 fantasy novel American Gods, following a former convict named Shadow who accepts a job as the Norse god Odin's personal escort and bodyguard. The series has unveiled a first look at its third season, which recently resumed production after delays stemming from changes behind-the-scenes and the global pandemic. As Shadow attempts to distance himself from his estranged employer, the teaser shows him encountering new deities along the way.
Based on the Neil Gaiman novel of the same name, American Gods stars Ricky Whittle, Emily Browning, Pablo Schreiber, Crispin Glover, Bruce Langley, Yetide Badaki, Ian McShane, Mousa Kraish, Kahyun Kim, Demore Barnes, and Chris Obi. Season 3 began filming on Oct. 9 and will premiere in 2021 on STARZ.
Archenemy
Joe Manganiello plays a very different kind of superhero in the upcoming thriller Archenemy. Claiming to be the costumed crimefighter Max Fist, who is originally from a different world and stuck here, Manganiello's character has since fallen on hard times and is a heavy drinking loner. Befriending a teenager and his sister, Fist helps the sibling after they run afoul of some mobsters, with the latest trailer showcasing the film's unflinching violence as Fist gets one last chance at glory.
Written and directed by Adam Egypt Mortimer, Archenemy stars Joe Manganiello, Glenn Howerton, Skylan Brooks, Zolee Griggs and Joseph D. Reitman. The film arrives in theaters and on video on demand Dec. 11.
Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition
The fan-favorite found footage horror movie The Blair Witch Project gets adapted into a VR experience just in time for Halloween. Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition takes place two years after the events of the original movie, with players exploring the Maryland woods for the supernatural evil. Finding clues as to what happened to the original investigative team, players eventually will face the urban legend head-on.
Developed by Bloober Team and Published by Lionsgate Games, Blair Witch is available now for Microsoft Windows, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch. Blair Witch: Oculus Quest Edition goes on sale Oct. 29.
Blood of Zeus
After being previously announced under the title Gods & Heroes, Netflix's next anime-inspired original series Blood of Zeus has unveiled its debut trailer. As monsters feasting from the flesh of the fallen Titans threaten Ancient Greece, a young commoner named Eivos discovers he is the son of Zeus and the last great hope to defend humanity and Mount Olympus, with the trailer certainly living up to the upcoming animated series' sanguine title.
Starring Jason O'Mara, Mamie Gummer, Chris Diamantopoulos, Derek Phillips and Jessica Henwick, Blood of Zeus premieres Oct. 27 on Netflix.
The Boys
The second season of The Boys has come to an explosive end, with a trailer for the season finale revealing the speedster Supe A-Train approaching The Boys to help against The Seven in revenge for being ousted from the team. Meanwhile, Homelander attempts to reassure the public that he and his team have the situation well in hand after a Congressional investigation into Vought International's activities resulted in a number of deaths.

Bugsnax
From the makers of Octodad. one of the quirkiest launch titles for the PlayStation 5 is the indie video game Bugsnax. The upcoming game has players explore SnakTooth Island where they collect over one hundred different kinds of Bugsnax, creatures that are half-snack and half-bug. The latest trailer introduces the title's voice cast, including a full roll call of the Grumpuses in the island community that consume the Bugnsnax to physically transform and take on their properties.
Developed by Young Horses, Bugsnax will be released for the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC on Nov. 12.
The Expanse
After originally airing for its first three seasons on Syfy, The Expanse moved to Amazon for its fourth season. The fifth season has humanity travel beyond the solar system to scour the cosmos for a new home. Long-building, interplanetary tensions come to a head in the fifth season debut trailer, with the crew of the Rocinante returns to Earth to confront their past as they fight for the future.
An adaption of the novel series of the same name by James S.A. Corey, The Expanse stars Steven Strait, Cas Anvar, Dominique Tipper, Wes Chatham, Shohreh Aghdashloo and Frankie Adams. Season 5 premieres Dec. 16 on Amazon Prime.
Free Guy
Ryan Reynolds' next comedy film, Free Guy, has released its latest trailer, continuing its self-aware skewering of common video game tropes. Reynolds stars as Guy, an NPC in a popular video game who falls in love with one of the human players as he discovers he's actually a video game character reliving the same day on repeat. As the programmers realize that one of their characters has become sentient, the players must save the day before the video game world is deleted for good.
Directed by Shawn Levy, Free Guy stars Ryan Reynolds, Jodie Comer, Joe Keery, Lil Rel Howery, Utkarsh Ambudkar and Taika Waititi. The film arrives in theaters Dec. 11.
Ghost of Tsushima
One of the most popular video game launches of this past year was the historical epic Ghost of Tsushima, and the game is receiving a free, massive update this month. The expansion will bring a variety of multiplayer modes, including a two-player cooperative story campaign and four-player raid mode. A trailer for the update also revealed new customizable gear and riding mounts for players as they continue to defend their home from Mongol invaders.
Developed by Sucker Punch Studios and published by Sony Interactive Entertainment, Ghost of Tsushima is currently available for PlayStation 4. Version 1.1 will available on Oct. 16.
Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity
The world of The Legend of Zelda is about to go back to a vision of Hyrule before it was conquered by Calamity Ganon in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity. A new promo has the King of Hyrule introduce the game's setting, serving as a prequel to the events of Breath of the Wild while showing more of Impa, who has been confirmed as a playable character. Players that have a save file for Breath of the Wild will unlock a bonus weapon in the game, helping them defend Hyrule from the forces of darkness.
Developed by Omega Force and published by Nintendo, Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity goes on sale Nov. 20 for the Nintendo Switch.
Invincible
Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley's popular Skybound Entertainment comic book series Invincible is getting an animated adaptation on Amazon, with the upcoming animated show decidedly not holding back from its source material's graphic content. A teaser trailer for the series introduces the superhero Omni-Man and his super-powered son Mark as the two embark on a life of high-stakes superhero action.
Developed by showrunner by Simon Racioppa and executive produced by Robert Kirkman, Invincible stars Steven Yeun, J.K. Simmons, Sandra Oh, Gillian Jacobs, Mark Hamill, Zazie Beetz, Khary Payton, Walton Goggins, Zachary Quinto, Chris Diamantopoulos, Jason Mantzoukas, Grey Griffin, Melise, Andrew Rannells, Kevin Michael Richardson and Seth Rogen, with Lauren Cohan, Chad Coleman, Michael Cudlitz, Lennie James, Ross Marquand and Sonequa Martin-Green. The series arrives on Amazon Prime Video in 2021.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous
While Jurassic World: Dominion may have been recently pushed to 2022, the Netflix original CG animated series Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous has been renewed for a second season set to premiere next year. A teaser trailer for the upcoming season shows the children stranded on Isla Nublar as genetically engineered dinosaurs run amuck forced to fend for themselves as they are hunted by the ravenous predators.
Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous is executive produced by Steven Spielberg, Colin Trevorrow, Lane Lueras, Scott Kreamer and Frank Marshall. The series stars Ryan Potter, Sean Giambrone, Jenna Ortega, Raini Rodriguez, Paul-Mikel Williams, Kausar Mohammed, Glen Powell and Jameela Jamil. The first season is streaming now on Netflix, with Season 2 premiering in 2021.
Mank
Celebrated filmmaker David Fincher's next movie, Mank, is an original biopic for Netflix, focused on the life and times of screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz. Presented in black-and-white to match its 1930s setting, the biopic stars Gary Oldman as Mankiewicz, racing to finish the screenplay for the landmark motion picture Citizen Kane while sparring with filmmaker Orson Welles to receive proper credit for the project.
Directed by David Fincher, Mank stars Gary Oldman, Tom Burke, Amanda Seyfried, Lily Collins, Tuppence Middleton, Arliss Howard and Charles Dance. The film arrives in theaters in November, and debuts on Netflix Dec. 4.
Mortal Kombat 11
After teasing the arrival of a new DLC expansion, NetherRealm Studios has confirmed that Mortal Kombat 11 will receive three new downloadable fighters. A cinematic trailer reveals Rain and Mileena entering the fight before being interrupted by action hero John Rambo brandishing his signature machine gun as the war veteran charges into battle, guns blazing. NetherRealm has since confirmed that Sylvester Stallone will reprise his iconic role in the fighting game.
Developed by NetherRealm Studios and published by Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment, Mortal Kombat 11 is available now for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Microsoft Windows and Google Stadia. The Ultimate expansion will be released on Nov. 17.
Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit Remastered
Just in time for its tenth anniversary, the popular racing game Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit gets a remastered edition next month. Boasting all the DLC expansions and cross-platform online multiplayer, the enhanced remake has players select high-performance cars and race each other while staying one step ahead of the law. With added features and an updated photo mode, the remastered edition serves as the definitive iteration of the classic 2010 video game.
Developed by Criterion Games and Stellar Entertainment and published by Electronic Arts, the remastered edition of Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit will be released for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC on Nov. 6. The Nintendo Switch version will be released on Nov. 13.
The Show
While groundbreaking comic book creator Alan Moore has publicly distanced himself from television and film adaptations of his prolific works, Moore takes on the role of screenwriter and actor for his next project The Show. Set in a haunted vision of Moore's English hometown of Northampton, the film's first trailer shows a young man on a surreal, nocturnal journey where he encounters Moore himself as a mysterious man in a star-spangled suit.
Directed by Mitch Jenkins with a script written by Alan Moore, The Show stars Tom Burke (War And Peace), Siobhan Hewlett (Show Pieces), Ellie Bamber (Nocturnal Animals), Sheila Atim (Girl From The North Country), Richard Dillane (The White Princess) and Moore himself.
Snowpiercer
The inaugural season of TNT's television adaptation of Snowpiercer had ended on a cliffhanger as the eponymous high-speed train became interlinked with another train full of survivors from the wintry apocalypse. A teaser trailer for Season 2 introduced the train's creator Mr. Wilford as he faces Season 1's protagonists Layton and Melanie for the last vestiges of humanity protected from the rigid conditions on board the rival trains.
Snowpiercer stars Jennifer Connelly, Daveed Diggs, Sean Bean, Rowan Blanchard,  Alison Wright, Mickey Sumner, Iddo Goldberg, Katie McGuinness, Lena Hall, Annalise Basso, Sam Otto, Roberto Urbina, Sheila Vand, and Steven Ogg. Season premieres on Jan. 25, 2021, and Season 1 debuts on HBO Max on Jan. 1.
The Stand
Stephen King's bestselling, post-apocalyptic novel The Stand is being adapted into a television miniseries on CBS Access this December, with a new trailer spotlighting the adaptation's all-star cast. As a devastating contagion sweeps across the globe, the forces of good and evil clash over the fate of the last remnants of humanity in the ashes of modern civilization.

Swamp Thing
After originally running on DC Universe, Swamp Thing has moved to The CW as the 2020-2021 television season officially begins. Already a strong ratings success for the network, a new trailer shows Madame Xanadu warning those around her of a dark evil lurking out on the bayou before the titular elemental superhero rises from the waters attempting to acclimate to his horrific new nature.
Swamp Thing stars Crystal Reed, Andy Bean, Derek Mears, Jennifer Beals, Henderson Wade, Will Patton, Virginia Madsen, Jeryl Prescott and Kevin Durand. The entire series is currently available to stream on the DC Universe service and airs on The CW Tuesdays at 8pm ET/PT.
The Watch
Beloved author Terry Pratchett's series of Discworld novels is being adapted for television in the upcoming BBC series The Watch. The series follows a group of misfits tasked with keeping the peace in a fantastical city as they uncover a plot to revive a dormant dragon that could wipe out all life as they know it. In addition to the teaser trailer, the program has unveil a set of short sneak peeks at the colorful characters populating the show.
The Watch is executive produced by BBC Studios' Hilary Salmon (Luther) and Phil Collinson (Doctor Who). The series, which will run for eight episodes, is written by Simon Allen (Das Boot). The series stars Richard Dormer, Anna Chancellor, Lara Rossi, Ingrid Oliver, James Fleet, Marama Corlett, Sam Adewunmi, Jo Eaton-Kent, Adam Hugill, Hakeem Kae-Kazim, Ruth Madeley, Bianca Simone and Ingrid Oliver. The series premieres on Jan. 3, 2021.
The West Wing
Just in time for the 2020 presidential election, the main cast of The West Wing is reuniting for stage performance of the acclaimed third season episode "Hartsfield's Landing" on HBO Max. With WarnerMedia donating to the non-partisan, nonprofit organization When We All Vote, a trailer shows the Emmy Award-winning cast reprising their roles as the fictional Bartlett Administration, with act breaks featuring appearances by President Bill Clinton, former First Lady Michelle Obama and Lin-Manuel Miranda reminding audiences the importance of participating in the electoral process.
Reuniting the main cast and creator Aaron Sorkin, A West Wing Special to Benefit When We All Vote premieres Oct. 15 on HBO Max.
Wolfwalkers
After wowing audiences at the Toronto International Film Festival last month, the animated film Wolfwalkers is coming for a wide theatrical release before moving to Apple TV+. Set in a storybook vision of medieval Ireland, the animated movie has a young girl named Robyn raised to hunt for wolves alongside her father. After befriending a mysterious girl named Mebh, Robyn learns she may be from a mystical tribe capable of transforming into wolves by night before setting out to stop her father from eradicating them.
Directed by Tomm Moore and Ross Stewart, Wolfwalkers stars Honor Kneafsey, Eva Whittaker, Sean Bean and Maria Doyle Kennedy. The film will receive a theatrical release on Nov. 13 before arriving on Apple TV+ Dec. 11.
Yakuza: Like a Dragon
Sega's popular Yakuza franchise continues with Yakuza: Like a Dragon, with a new trailer showing off the game's presentation running on the Xbox Series X/S's hardware. Following protagonist Ichiban Kasuga as he leads his crew of gangsters through the streets of Japan. The trailer also showcases the different kind of mini-games players can engage in, including the franchise's staple karaoke, this time with an English-language track.
Developed by Ryu Ga Gotoku Studio and published by Sega, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will be released for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S and PC on Nov. 10. The PlayStation 5 version will be released on March 2, 2021.
