Season 1 of The Boys shed light on Butcher's hatred of "Supes," as he believed his wife was dead after being raped by the Seven's sociopathic leader Homelander (Anthony Starr). However, it turned out that Becca was alive and living on a compound. Her son possesses the same powers as Homelander, which led the leader of the Seven to train the boy in using his powers. Butcher has reunited with the Boys in order to clear their names. However, there is tension between him and Hughie (Jack Quaid) due to the latter's romantic involvement with Starlight/Annie January (Erin Moriarty).
