Principal photography on Amazon's hit adaptation of The Boys is nearing its end, with returning star Karl Urban officially wrapped for Season 2.

In a social media post, Urban announced he had finished filming his role as Billy Butcher for the second season, hinting that the season would premiere sometime in the middle of 2020. This mirrors the first season, which debuted on the digital platform this past July.

Filming on the second season began this past August, with executive producer Seth Rogen revealing the production had a significantly larger budget and cast than its first season.

Adapting the comic book series by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson of the same name, The Boys follows a group of misfit meta-humans tasked by the government to keep rogue superheroes in line and their heinous actions out of the public sphere. Led by Billy Butcher, the no-nonsense protagonist has a personal vendetta against Homelander, a secret sociopath and most popular superhero in the world.

The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as the Female, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Simon Pegg as Hughie's dad. A Season 2 premiere date has not yet been announced.
