Actor Aya Cash discussed how her character Stormfront's use of memes and misinformation to gain followers and support is a way for The Boys to tell a story that openly critiques how quickly misinformation spreads online.

During an episode of Amazon Studios' Prime Rewind: Inside the Boys, Cash explained how this aspect of Stormfront is vital to the show, declaring that her character's social media habits are a reflection of our real world and its dangerous consequences.

Cash likened Stormfront's first appearance on the show to a "wolf in sheep's clothing." She added that Stormfront "comes in a cute little Instagram friendly package. And I think, unfortunately, that's the way our world is working these days."

In The Boys, Stormfront first appeared as a seemingly empowered feminist who is super savvy with social media, before the show quickly exposed her as being a white supremacist villain. "I mean, Nazis don't want to be called Nazis anymore. Evil is packaged in all, new ways these days," she added, which is fitting considering her character in the show is an actual Nazi, disguising herself as someone who openly expresses a belief in a "greater" America.

Host Aisha Tyler replied that she "think[s] it's important for people to see that that's actually happening in our world as well."

"When she is using her 'meme queens' to change public opinion, that comes from real life," Cash said. "That's not fantasy. That's what's happening in the world right now... which is fucking terrifying."

"And I'm guilty too," Cash said, referring to not always checking sources before sharing information online with others. "We all put something out there that we didn't do the research on, that we thought was funny or we thought was a fact, and it was not. I think this is a story for all of us to listen to and say we should all be doing our research."

Amazon Studios' The Boys stars Karl Urban as Billy Butcher, Jack Quaid as Hughie, Laz Alonso as Mother's Milk, Tomer Kapon as Frenchie, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, Erin Moriarty as Annie January, Chace Crawford as the Deep, Antony Starr as Homelander and Aya Cash as Stormfront.
