Antony Starr, star of Prime Video's The Boys, shared a particularly raunchy photo of Homelander in celebration of the long-awaited Episode 6, "Herogasm."

Shared by Starr on Twitter, the photo depicts the actor as Homelander, splayed out in a pose akin to Burt Reynolds' iconic 1972 bearskin rug centerfold for Cosmopolitan. "Homie getting in the mood for episode 666," Starr wrote in the caption.

The Boys' "Herogasm" episode has been highly anticipated by fans of the show and repeatedly teased by Prime Video up until its recent premiere. While showrunner Eric Kripke stated that the premiere episode of Season 3 will be the "craziest" thing the show has accomplished thus far, he also noted that things will get even more out of hand in Episode 6. "There will be no topping 'Herogasm.' Now that I've seen the dailies of this thing, I'm like, what have we done? It's just so crazy," Kripke said. Kripke later admitted that the marketing department may have "overhyped the splooge," but "Herogasm" also featured the first interaction -- and subsequent battle -- between Homelander and Jensen Ackles' Soldier Boy.

How Much Is Too Much

Despite the opportunity to let loose in "Herogasm," especially on a series known for its brutal violence, Kripke has also noted that there is a line the show won't cross and that anything over-the-top that appears on screen can't be unwarranted. "They've always let us do what we wanted to do. But I think because of that it comes with a responsibility to moderate and modulate ourselves. You never want to fall on the side of just being gratuitous and gross," he said. "I don't want this show to be irresponsible. I want it to be shocking and outrageous, but of a moral universe."

Writer Garth Ennis and artist John McCrea first brought "Herogasm" to life in the pages of their six-issue comic miniseries, The Boys: Herogasm, which saw Earth's superheroes meet for a week-long, Vought-paid-for orgy. The storyline follows The Boys' titular band of misfits as they infiltrate a secret, annual orgy of Vought International supes, designed to help the heroes unwind. However, Herogasm appeared in the Prime Video series differently than it did in the comics.

It was announced in August 2020 that Ackles would be joining the cast of The Boys as Soldier Boy, the first Captain America-esque superhero manufactured by Vaught Industries in World War II, described by Kripke as "Homelander before Homelander." The Boys is based on the comic series of the same name by Ennis and Darick Robertson. Season 3 of The Boys wrapped filming in September 2021 and has already been picked up for Season 4.

New episodes of The Boys premiere every Friday on Prime Video.
