Loosely based on the 2010 picture book of the same name by Marla Frazee, Boss Baby was released in 2017 when DreamWorks Animation was owned by 20th Century Fox.

The animated film featured Alec Baldwin as the voice of Theodore "Ted" Templeton Jr., an infant with the mind of an adult, who works as a secret agent at Baby Corp and gains his intelligence from drinking a "Secret Baby Formula." With help from his older brother Tim, Ted Jr. -- aka The Boss Baby -- sought to end the war for adults' love between babies and puppies.

The voice cast also featured Lisa Kudrow and Jimmy Kimmel in the roles of Ted's parents, along with Tobey Maguire, Steve Buscemi and Conrad Vernon. The animated film went on to be a hit at the box office, bringing in more than $500 million worldwide.

The Boss Baby: Family Business will mark the return of director Tom McGrath, as well as see Baldwin, Kudrow and Kimmel reprising their roles from the first film.

This time around, Tim and Ted are adults who have grown up and grown apart. Tim is now a married stay-at-home dad and Ted is a hedge fund CEO who is idolized by Tim's eldest daughter Tabitha. Things take an exciting turn when Tim's youngest daughter Tina is revealed to be a top-secret agent for Baby Corp, who is on a mission to uncover the dark secrets behind Tabitha’s school, the prestigious Acorn Center for Advanced Childhood, and its mysterious founder. As the mission unfolds, the Templeton brothers are brought together in new and unexpected ways and are forced to re-evaluate the true meaning of family.

Directed by Tom McGrath and produced by Jeff Hermann, The Boss Baby: Family Business stars Alec Baldwin, Lisa Kudrow and Jimmy Kimmel, along with newcomers James Mardsen, Eva Longoria, Ariana Greenblatt, Amy Sedaris and Jeff Goldblum. The film hits theaters on Sept. 17, 2021.
