Star Wars fans will want to stay seated upon finishing The Book of Boba Fett's season finale as it contains a surprise post-credits scene.

The last episode of the series, titled "In The Name of Honor," concludes Boba's rise to power with an explosive resolution. Yet the story doesn't end there as a post-credit scene sets up future installments in the already expansive universe. This is the first episode in the show to future any kind of credits-related clip.

While less common in Star Wars, post-credit scenes have become a staple of Disney's many blockbuster franchises. They were largely popularized by the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which predominantly uses both mid and post-credit scenes to set up future stories and characters. These can range from fun jokes, such as Hawkeye's extended cut of "Rogers: The Musical," or important developments like Thanos equipping the Infinity Gauntlet in The Avengers.

The Book of Boba Fett chronicles the fearsome bounty hunter's rise to power on Tatooine. On his journey, Boba is forced into making several alliances with shady figures in order to secure his throne atop the planet's seedy underworld. While the series has been criticized for not focusing enough on the titular character, even including an episode wherein he doesn't appear at all, it's been praised for further fleshing out the Star Wars universe.

While not only setting up the highly anticipated third season of The MandalorianThe Book of Boba Fett gave long-time fans the live-action debut of Cad Bane, a bounty hunter established in the beloved Clone Wars animated series. It also features a unique reference to Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, leading many fans to believe the video game is considered canon.

Now that The Book of Boba Fett has wrapped up, Star Wars fans still have plenty of content to look forward to. Disney has confirmed that several live-action series, including KenobiAndor and Ahsoka, are all in development and may release in 2022.
